Jeremy mentioned that you have to try to call way ahead of time, or arrange something through craigslist. But I think people are being jerks and charging an arm and a leg for a ride anywhere. :(

We realize that many of you will be flying home (or elsewhere) for the winter
break, and getting to the area airports may prove to be more challenging than
usual. If you have difficulty finding a taxi or a car service, you can take an
NYU bus (which has plenty of room for your bags) to Grand Central, Penn
Station, or the Port Authority and switch to the New York Airport Service bus
service. Fares range from $12 to $15 each way. For Newark Airport, you can
take New Jersey Transit. SuperShuttle also operates van service between New
York City and all three area airports.
Below are links to the New York Airport Service bus service, New Jersey
Transit, and SuperShuttle that will provide detail information on schedule and
fares.
If you encounter any difficulties with campus transportation, or have any
questions about the expanded service, please call the Department of Public
Safety at 212.998.2222.
