YooChun had been staring at the wall ahead for some time now.

The cameras, audience, and host went ignored as he stood patiently waiting to take a seat. He tired of answering the same questions over and over again, and soon found boredom to be a well-welcomed friend as the minutes tolled on. Beside him was a jittery JaeJoong who earlier insisted on finishing two bottles of highly-caffeinated energy drinks. Desperation must have driven him to such extremes, which otherwise meant another packaged meal for dinner. Times like these honestly made him wish that their work schedule showed signs of clearing up sometime soon. But wishes were only wishes, and hardly are they ever answered.

To the farthest left, a disgruntled looking YunHo busied himself with slight movements while making noises of agreement in return to the host’s questions. However, chances of him actually listening seemed pretty slim at this point. Everything felt repetitive. And the only person taking the time to answer each one truthfully was JunSu. Who, for some odd reason, was quite the chatterbox today as he went on to speaking about their daily activities. That was normally a task assigned for the Leader, but at the moment, YunHo seemed less than interested at what was going on around them.

Usually, he loved the sound of JunSu’s voice. It was calming in its own quirky way. The pitches that rose and fell with every vowel he made, and how his words sounded along with the movement of his lips. He used to watch him, as well. Stealing shy glances or plainly staring at him in hopes for a smile in return. And for awhile, they exchanged secretive looks, passing one another messages that were filled with unannounced emotions. Yet, to his dismay, he would later learn that they had only been one-sided.

Only his side.

It took some time, but somehow, he taught himself to tune everything out - especially those feelings of unrequited affection. He suffered through the self-doubt and JunSu’s disregarding behavior, often choosing to scoff at the agonizing attempt it took to move on. But even though it cost him his pride, YooChun overcame those dreadful moments spent worrying and wondering, and gained back the missing pieces once thought to be sacrificed. And here he was… a stronger man.

So he stared ahead - completely unaware of the eyes centered on him.

Eyes full of knowledge and wisdom, though constantly mistaken for the childish will to decline further interaction with everyone else, despite his true intentions. Aside from a few people, no one fully knew of his observant nature. Speculating from a distance, the public misjudged him as being reluctant and bashful. The typical results from growing up underneath the limelight, as some would say. But ChangMin had other things in mind.

He was always misunderstood. Not only by the fans, but even by his own band mates who sometimes spoke for him without even bothering to hear what he had to say. But that was all right. When he was younger, he didn’t mind missing the chance to speak for himself. Now he was older; a college student with a few achievements under his name. ChangMin knew these were things to be proud about, but he couldn’t deny the nagging feeling of being unable to reach one goal in particular.

And that goal currently stood a couple feet away.

He had tried countless times to approach YooChun. But his efforts practically went unnoticed as the baritone vocalist passed him by to join the side of someone who, in his opinion, did not deserve his attention. Back then, he sought refuge in empty hallways to relieve himself of anger through muttered curses. However, as the years grew - so did his understanding for relationships between friends, and more…

Perhaps it was due to his studious habits, researching deeper into Buddhism and self improvement. Or maybe his cause for strengthened knowledge came from a reliable source: Two people who carried first-hand experience with openly admitting their feelings, while being able to keep it all behind closed doors, at the same time. Recollecting this memory, ChangMin could easily smile and not go through the anxiety of guilt and jealousy whenever they were near. And that was quite fortunate, since he always felt like the third wheel around them, anyway. Quite literally.

Looking towards his right, he caught the blank expression YooChun wore. It was surprising how quickly he memorized every feature upon the young man’s face. Other than his gentle personality vividly seen in that steadfast gaze, ChangMin simply adored YooChun’s smile. It surrendered him to warmth he never knew. The way it spread and drew others to his happiness, gave him a greater reason to want more. And the carefree laughter that followed afterwards? - Oh, he would do anything to hear it once again. But seeing him now, compared to how he used to be, felt different than before. There was an emptiness that lingered, paining his heart incredibly. Though stronger by definition, YooChun’s appearance told another story.

Without thinking twice on his actions, ChangMin moved from his place between JunSu and Jaejoong and walked towards the lonesome male at the very end. His arms soon wrapped around YooChun from behind, while placing the tip of his chin onto that offered shoulder. He held on tighter, unwilling to let go, and after a moment of rigid awkwardness - he felt YooChun’s body slowly relaxing against his own. The youngest looked up to find those eyes upon him; sharing a secret and exchanging a message.

This was their moment. And soon, very soon…

Their story would begin.
