I love that song!
Oh, he was a jerk sometimes, but he wasn't such a jerk that I can't identify with him from time to time and enjoy some of his work. In fact, he reminds me a bit of my father.
I can't disregard gems like the included quotation!

I think he's a great poet to use to access poetry! After all, his subject matter was/is varied/something folks could relate to no matter their background, and his word play while skilled was also accessible. I think, too, the short lines of his early work is spot-on because the short nuggets help a person digest poetry (i.e. figure out how to understand line). I often think poetry is misunderstood because people are not exposed to it early enough: It really is like learning a new language (i.e. the language of the line, a language focused in around metaphor). Oh, I'm rambling. I'm stopping myself.
