Steve Colton, my high school band director, died of a heart attack two days ago in Idaho, after vacationing in Yellowstone National Park. He was only 58 - one year younger than my dad. That's such a shame. I'm very sorry to hear that. I wasn't in the band, but Beth always had nice things to say about the man (and so did my mom.)

Thanks. It's so odd because he retired so early to focus on other things band-related that he couldn't do while teaching. And he only had two or three years to do those things. Sigh.

My mom gasped when she read that Mr. Colton died last night. I can't believe it. I never actually had him as a band director but he was my band tutor my freshman year. He was a really nice guy. He will be missed.
