It is 11:45 pm - and the tornado sirens just went off. So after some frantic scrambling to find the remote and get the Weather Channel on, I realized that there's no tornado. Nope - no watches, no warnings, nada. I'm glad I wasn't off to bed, yet, because my windows are open and the air-raid siren is not far away. It is LOUD

Siren will wail "up-and-down" five times when the fire department it paged. Continuous wailing is something else, usually weather.

Oh, I didn't know that - is that how your hubby knows he needs to hustle to the firehouse? I thought they had pagers or something.

Ohh, they have pagers. The city just does that too. It's kind of silly if you ask me.
