I'm late to the party, but I'm seeing some agitation over "the new Harley Quinn" and I was like, wait, what? New Harley Quinn? Sex-craze is ruining everything. Like, the first costume was cute and sexy, this new one is just trashy. I hate it.

The new costume's very trashy action anime. I LOVE trashy action anime, but trashy action anime needed to get all over Harley Quinn like Alvin and the Chipmunks needed to be in an alarmist anti-drug PSA.

Yeah, it was someone who linked me to Fink's illustration that alerted me to this. I mean, when I saw the Supergirl one some time ago, I was like ehn. Even Wonder Woman's was like ehn. But everyone else.... D: D: D:

You know, if DC had wanted to make her look more "sexy" I would she got that look in that skin tight outfit. I can see why a lot of people are complaining about these new looks. @_@

Heh, hey imagine if they used more revealing clothing to make Batman or maybe even the Joker look more sexy. Maybe that would knock some common sense into who ever is designing these outfits. @_@

It wasn't edgy enough, or it didn't make it obvious that she was a BAD PERSON (for only BAD PEOPLE dress that way; or so I assume they think, because they totally covered up Supergirl, Wonder Woman and Black Canary)(I can't see what Zatanna's wearing but it appears she's more covered up too), or something ridiculous. Maybe someone saw photos of 90s/early 00 goth clubbers? IDK.

/sighs/ i saw this a couple weeks ago running around tumblr and about lost my shit. Harley Quinn was one of the few really badass badguys ever--BECAUSE she didn't look or act like it in the conventional sense! That is the effing POINT of Harley Quinn! ;lsakjf;oiwjlksjd;foiwajfsldkf

(Not that I need to tell you this, but my rage caps just seem to get stuck whenever this comes up.)

DC, SERIOUSLY. IF YOU PUT HER IN AN ACTUAL OLD NURSE'S OUTFIT, OR A CANDYSTRIPER, WITHOUT SEX-I-FYING IT, THAT WOULD BE FINE. THIS IS NOT HARLEY QUINN. THIS IS A STRIPPER. A STRIPPER WITH REALLY TERRIBLE HAIR.

(Snd to be totally frank, this is kind of a disservice to strippers, too. They have better style than this, from what I've seen.)

Yeah, like I was saying to someone else in this post, and to some friends in person, Harley Quinn never really traded on her sexuality. Sure, some fans (and in-universe characters) thought her outfit was sexy or sexualized her because of how skin-tight it is, but Harley herself was not usually written to be RAWRSEXY!!!! like Catwoman or Ivy are. And that's what makes me very, very sad about this new Harley. :( And those shorts (if you can call them that)! I'd like to see her designer/artist wear that outfit and realize all the many ways it fails.
