InVerse messaged me out of the blue today talking about a recent wave of pirated NES games from China that are basically 8-bit ports of well-known games such as Final Fantasy 7 and Chrono Trigger. NON CHEESEBALL

...that aside, you ought to post your Chinese pirate queries on the Lost Levels boards. I think there are a few guys watching those who'd probably be able to tell you more.

Also:

That DuckTales site is too good to be unknown by The Internet. You should put it on Lost Levels and act like it's new :-p

If you can track down a goodnes set, it has most of the dumped pirate roms in it.

Although he was pretty insufferable on messageboards, D Boy's blog site covered several Chinese RPG pirates, most recently the Chrono Trigger one.

Unsurprisingly its very bad. Impossible to finish unless you cheat. I'm kind of confused by how D Boy says the only hackable data was the inventory. There was no way for him to have at least altered the character's HP, or make it infinite?

And yeah you should come back to Lost Levels anytime. Very recently this blog was discovered which is very fascinating.
