It's soapbox time..

I decided that I wanted to write a response to Adam's last journal post (before the one talking about Andrea and his job) where he said "i'm sick of seeing people that are trying to become activists and "fight for what they believe in" when they have not experienced life and things that should make them want to fight ( Read more... )

Ok in the past couple of days there's been so much animosity towards everyone i'll go back to an old saying " can't we all just get along" but in this case there's no need for this because we acted liked civilized adults and didn't result to insults, I'm so proud of you all and keep up the good work. To the point of whats being said i see adam's point and love Brodie's statement on politicians i really don't think you can really become a true activist for the poor if your daddy was a millionaire, get the picture and its true we can say we've experienced life but there are those out there who sadly have experienced more and should voice their opinions.

Firstly, I prefer LJ debate...we're not fighting. We're speaking out minds and arguing the subject. Acting as politians in Congress would. Which is funny (and cutely ironic) considering Adam and Brodie's comments against politians earlier. Tehe.

Perhaps your daddy started off dirt poor and then became a millionare. You could be taught to appreciate the value of hard work and still care about those less fortunate than yourself. You can still support people in a lower income bracket than you, even if you haven't been there. That's called having a heart...or being a democrat.

Only slightly joshing with the democrat bit...don't get your underoos in a twist.

I know Will foy. I just gotta say, the whole school getting shot up/gun control deal is a load of rubbish. How far you think those kids would have got had teachers been armed? or they have security guards? if you get gun control, you get facism. plain and simple

gun control = the devil

Firearms were one of the things Hitler took away from the Jewish people before the entire Holocaust occurred, leaving them defenseless in a number of ways. Had they been able to keep their belongings, including weapons, perhaps things would have been different. Perhaps 6 million innocent people would not have been murdered.
It could happen again.

I think that these 2 quotes are more powerful an argument than any statistic or any anecdote could possibly ever be.

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the underdog is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or police." -- Adolph Hitler, Edict of March 18, 1938

"Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA. Ordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the State"
-- Heinrich Himmler

I learned a long time ago that actually having an opinion is always a bad thing.

That's why I don't have them.

And I so just lied.

Are you going to spank me?

Please don't.

Please don't go get the paddle out of my bottom desk drawer and hold me down and spank me until I beg you to stop.

Please don't. :)
