I didn't want to tell people this way, but it's the quickest, easiest
way without me repeating myself 75 times. I went to the gyno on Friday
and told her I was having a pelvic pain (a pain that I had been having
for quite some time now). She did my exam, but couldn't feel anything,
so she ordered at CT scan.
I had the CT scan yesterday, and they found a benign cyst. That's not
even the half of it. It starts at my left ovary and extends all the way
up to my stomach/liver/diaphragm. My doctor says it's equivalent to a
six-month pregnancy (25 cm = 9-10 inches). The cyst is pushing on my
bladder, making me have to go more often than usual AND my stomach,
making me feel fuller, quicker. Oh, and it's pushing on my uterus,
which is why my gynos were saying "you have a tipped uterus."
I now have an appointment on VALENTINE'S DAY with the gyno surgeon. Then, we'll schedule the actual surgery.
The surgery will be here in Shakopee. I imagine I'll have to stay in
the hospital for a few days. And yes, I'll be sure to tell you those
details when the time comes.
I'm worried that they have to take my ovary. And they won't know until
they go in there. So I might wake up short an ovary. I've had a bit of
a difficulty accepting that, but my doctor says that my right one is
100-percent normal, and will compensate for the missing one. HOWEVER, I
understand that taking the ovary would prevent complications later on.
I'm also worried about the scarring (although that's the LEAST of my
worries), since it's in the abdominal area. I wonder how far they'll
have to cut.
Matt's ok. He's not really bothered by this (because they aren't taking
any of HIS reproductive parts). I'm better now that I know what's
going on. And I'm better knowing how much better I will feel when this
is all over. I mean, they literally called me TWO HOURS after the CT
scan. Insane.
I'm glad I waited to tell you until I calmed down. Yesterday was a day
of mixed emotions...plus I have my period. Fantastic. Yesterday was a
roller coaster day.
Uh, yeah. Happy February. And early March. They are looking to do the
surgery within a few weeks. I'll be sure to let you know...
