Writing and Editing

The last three years have been so stressful my writing has been forced lower on my list of priorities. With that being said, it doesn't much look as if things will change terribly in the next few years which means I must figure out how to incorporate writing time amidst chaos ( Read more... )

You really have had a great deal to balance in the past few years. Parents aging is a real issue that needs far more discussion in the press and online; we who have had to try to work out how best to help our parents and in-laws need so much support from those surrounding us. In the end it will, I hope, make better people of us.
Yuck about your knee issues. Do you think a knee replacement is in your future?
I've another friend on LJ and FB who has had issues with employment as their kids are in university and their own looming retirements. It is very scary.

You're so right about the aging parent issue in our culture. Too often, it's all about shutting mom/dad/grandma/grandpa into some 'home' somewhere and then they're forgotten about until they die. I can't think of anything less pleasant ( ... )

Hugs for your knee. Poor knee! Mum has finally conceded to have a knee replacement sometime in the next year, which she desperately needs.

Your sons sound so delightful!

I hope you can churn out more stories! I love your work.

I'm flexing my fingers on the writing front -- I've missed it so much. So there will be more stories in the near future.

As for the sons, thank you! I'm definitely happy for them.

My SIL is trying to talk me into the concept of a knee replacement now -- rather than living with the inconvenience for years as she has done. I'm not all that gung ho about it; if only I'd stop re-wrenching it on a weekly basis.

I am currently pretty much without drive, though I've had some interesting glimmers of inspiration (Eternal story of my life). I just have no ability to put things on the page right now, and it's sad. I can't wait to hear more about your stories and hopefully be able to buy them!

It has taken me years of talking to my mum and then leaving her alone about it, but she has no cartilage, essentially, and this winter has been brutal on her knees. So she's seriously considering in the next year or so. It might be a good thing to think over; you don't need to make a decision now. I don't know all your specifics, so it's hard to say. I do know my gmom had a good time with her replacements, and I really believe that mum's pain will go way down if she gets hers done.

I'm sorry your knee is so bad. *hugs* But the good news on other fronts makes me happy for you.

I know what you mean about securing writing time...

I'm rather sorry about the knee, too. It's a complete PITA, both demoralizing and limiting in terms of my mobility. Sigh. Next week, we'll see about an MRI and possible surgery.

I do hope you're having a chance to find some writing time. It's a precious commodity.
