Phase Two: The Island

The boxes bearing the kitchen island have arrived -- they did so on Tuesday late afternoon. Regrettably, the part of the top was cracked right through and along the length of the board. My kitchen island came in with the top having the magnets to hold my doors on the wrong side. My niece "freehanded" it as she said and fixed it.

We considered jury-rigging it ourselves, except it's a break across the main support of the island's two-foot extension, so we're not really wanting to dismantle the top to glue the pieces together and hope it's strong enough to hold.

If mine had been broken, it would have been returned. I understand. But for things that are heavy and expensive, they are a wee bit careless with the parts, I think.

I think you make a good point. In this case, we opened the lesser damaged box. Once we discovered the extent of the breakage, I wasn't interested in opening the more badly damaged package. At least they'll pick it up on Monday and then we'll get our refund.

Not to mention I have two huge boxes taking up a fifth of my living room.
