But yes, it was a very different era, and even though it didn't work out for Liefeld the way it did for McFarlane, but Liefeld really knew how to ride the wave of popularity and put himself out there the way one would have to to create characters as a brand. And I know that sounds kind of vulgar "comics as a brand", but that's what Marvel and DC characters really are.
But I digress, I think that with Hollywood clamoring for comics properties, now is a really good time to start something fresh, and I think that the next big non-Marvel/DC property will come before the comic movie bubble bursts.
That said, I think that reaching for that brass ring is noble, which is what I think Corey is really working for. He just sucks at voicing it.
