Name: Agape
Pairing: Sooyoung/Sungmin
Rating: G
Genre: Angst
Sooyoung waits patiently in the old practice room. Her drenched coat hangs limply on a rack beside her. She watches the water drip, creating a small puddle on the floor.
She thinks back of the past fifteen minutes.
It’s been a while since Sungmin called her. She understands though. Both of them had been very busy the past few months. It’s been a while. It’s been a long, long while since they last talked to each other.
She folds her legs towards her and rests her chin on her knees. She remembers how her manager cornered her right after the Golden Disk Awards.
There were people watching. Do you know what you just did?
But oppa, they won. And it’s but normal.
Thirty seconds isn’t normal for a congratulatory hug.
But I missed him! she screams in her mind But we’re just friends! was what rolled out of her tongue
You pretty much know you’re lying to yourself, Choi Sooyoung.
But…
I expect to not see that kind of scene again. Not in public. You hear me?
Her head drops lower as she heaves out a sigh. She remembered the other girls looking at her helplessly after that. She bites her lip in an attempt to keep the bitter feelings bottled up inside. She suspects his manager did the same to him. She couldn’t think of any other reason why both of them tried desperately to keep away from each other’s paths during the Seoul Awards.
She wonders what could be the reason for the sudden call and her mind flies back to that certain time back in this same practice room. A certain time three years ago, when Sungmin had been her shoulder to cry on.
Nine isn’t that bad, Sooyoungie.
It’s too many.
We’re thirteen.
But oppa…
Someday, you’ll understand what I mean.
The small puddle beneath her coat ripples for every drop falling from her wet clothing. She remembers the loneliness on Sungmin’s voice from the other line. Something she hasn’t heard for a long time. And she knows, it’s now her turn to offer a shoulder.
She looks up as she hears faint footsteps coming from outside the door.
The door opens slowly and Sungmin’s hooded figure appears. His arms wrapped tenderly on his guitar, probably to prevent the rain from soaking it wet.
“Did I take too long?” he walks towards the girl after he takes off his coat.
“Not really.” Sooyoung gives him a huge smile as he plops near her. “I brought some snacks.” She tells him, pointing to her half-opened backpack full of chips.
Sungmin gives out a sigh as he stares into the space in front of him.
Sooyoung reaches out for his guitar and starts playing a few chords. The boy hears the notes but his mind is still a cluttered mess.
“I miss you.”
He looks up upon hearing the barely audible confession.
Sooyoung continues playing as if she never said anything, her eyes focused on the fingerboard of the guitar.
Sungmin gazes at her for what seemed like forever. He then stares back into the space in front of him. He leans back to the wall and closes his eyes.
“I miss you, too.”
The rain poured in torrents outside the building but in that spacious practice room Sooyoung continues playing broken chords of “Way Back into Love” and Sungmin feels a small smile spreading on his face. His eyes closed but his soul open as he drinks the comfortable silence between the two of them. He leans his head on her shoulder and he hears her give out a sigh before she rests her own head on top of his.
“Can I cry, Sooyoungie?”
Sooyoung hums her consent. Her heart open, ready to receive the melancholy of the boy beside her. Very much like how the battered pavement outside braves the painful lashing of the angry rain.

I can't help not to write this. A supposed sequel of
Epiphany.
