Sooyoung sat cross-legged on the floor, chest heaving and sweat cascading down her neck, as she took a rest from the tedious practice. The rest of the girls has left already for lunch; throwing her worried glances when she told her that she’ll not be joining them as she hasn’t memorized their new dance routine yet.
That wasn’t the first time she said no to food. But it was the first for her to shake her head to an eat-all-you-can buffet offer. She reasoned out that the dance was a bit complicated than usual and she needs to exert an extra effort to perfect it. So there she was, sitting on the floor after going through the song for the nth time.
But that wasn’t the sole reason why she opted to stay.
“I heard the mighty shikshin of So Nyu Shi Dae passed on a buffet offer so I decided to check if it was true.” A low voice broke the silence in the practice room.
“And it does seem like it. The Apocalypse is coming.”
Sooyoung turned her head towards the direction of the voice. A surprised look crossed her face upon seeing the maknae of one of Korea’s top boy groups standing on the doorway.
“W-what are you doing here?” she stammered upon seeing Kyuhyun walk towards her direction.
“Chill Choi. Why so nervous?” his face showed his famous smirk as he stopped a few meters from the girl.
“K-Kyuhyun-ssi….”
“Ouch. Why the formalities? Shouldn’t you call me oppa?” he reached out to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
Sooyoung moved back automatically, as if burned by his touch.
“W-we are not close. Why are you talking to me like this?”
The boy took a deep breath before seating himself on the floor. Silence between them grew for each passing minute.
“I’m sorry.” He finally said.
“…”
“We never had the chance to talk with each other.”
“O-okay?”
“It would be nice if I could add another friend to my list, right?” he stared at the girl, waiting for a reaction.
“I guess so.” She said it matter-of-factly and Kyuhyun couldn't deny how her indifferent comment stabbed his heart.
He heaved a sigh and stood up. He reached for something in the pockets of his jeans and tossed it at the girl.
“Do not starve yourself.”
Sooyoung stared at the chocolate bar on her hands. Mind still lost about the encounter; a small “thanks” came out of her mouth as she watched Kyuhyun walk away.
She was still reflecting about what had happened when she heard the door open again.
“Sooyoungie?” a familiar voice called out to her. She raised her head and a bright smile made its way into her lips as soon as she laid her eyes on the visitor. “Oppa!”
“Did I take too long? I’m sorry, Sooman-songsaengnim saw me on my way here and we ended up chatting a bit. Y’know, usual protocol. Are you hungry already? Here.” He took out three boxes of what might be packed lunch and sat near her. “Eat well, my shikshin.”
Kyuhyun froze on his steps when he heard the conversation. He was already on the lounge area when he decided to return and tell his real intention why he went to see Sooyoung.
Well, he has heard rumors.
She was pretty much known as the girl whose only experience with boys is having her heart broken. He knows he was one of those boys who had made her cry. But he was young and reckless then. And the idea of poking fun at her admiration for him was all for fun. He would never know she took it seriously until Siwon talked to him about it. Somehow, the confrontation made things more awkward between them. It has been two years already and the initial distance between them grew farther and farther apart. It didn’t help either that she grew more and more beautiful each day. He knows he was not the only one who regrets things. He can see it in Sungmin’s eyes too. But at least they’re friends. He decided that this would be the right time to say sorry.
Especially now that there were hushed whispers of how the girl has been visibly happier the past few days. And the reason is that she finally found the man who had took her heart and promised to take care of it. He wants to know if it was true. And if so, who is the lucky bastard guy who saw her in a different light unlike the others?
He moved slowly upon hearing the voice. He took a peek at the slightly ajar door and he doesn’t understand why his vision suddenly blurred upon seeing her talking with a man he was very much familiar with.
“You’ve been very busy we barely had time to see each other.” The man moved nearer towards Sooyoung and planted a kiss on her lips. "I missed you."
The girl smiled bashfully before burying her face into the man’s chest. The chocolate bar rolling out of her hands as she wrapped her arms around him.
“I missed you too, Siwon-oppa.”
