Title: Her Boys
Pairing: Yoona-centric
Rating: G
Genre: slight!angst; friendship; fluff
Yoona remembers only a few things back from her trainee days.
She's the type of person who does not really delve on the past but instead prefers to see the bright and shining promise of a better tomorrow. She is the girl who has always been the harbinger of hope and she has always believed that every dark shadow should be taken away and locked up in a closet filled with sunlight and sunbeams so that they will fade away, never to be seen again.
Thus, the only things she can remember about her pre-debut days are meeting her friends, learning her craft, and being continually strong against life's waging storms.
(she somehow forgets that she was awkward to almost all male trainees who got into the academy the same year as her)
Days rolled into years and she soon finds herself standing in a stage, looking at a sea of pink balloons shining before her eyes. She grew up. And even if people will say that she has transformed into a pretty, young lady worthy of winning every man's heart, Yoona still feels that she is looking at the world with the eyes of a child. That everything is always new and she will be forever drowning in her innocent amazement of how things unfold themselves in front of her.
(Kyuhyun oftentimes makes fun about this 'little glitch' on her perfect image and she answers by making a face and sticking her tongue out at the boy)
She will often look at her co-members who had been her sunbaes and hoobaes back in her trainee years and her eyes will get misty and she'll feel something warm swell inside of her. Pride. She's proud that she's standing along the people to whom she used to look up to. That even if they constantly pamper her and treat her like she's some sensitive bud that needs utmost care, they will always be her source of strength and that they are the reason why she continues holding on. That even if the rest of the girls shower her with compliments and proclaim that no one can take her rightful place in the group, she still feels lucky enough to belong. That even if So Nyuh Shi Dae's biggest fans are the members of So Nyuh Shi Dae itself, her adoration for the girls will not match anyone else's in the world.
(Yoochun used to tease her about her being a fanboy for her own group and she smiles, albeit half-hurt, upon remembering that he might never have the chance to tease her anymore)
Her role for her first drama is what she claims as the reason which catapulted her to where she is right now. Much more than her center role, it is this which built her self-esteem. It is, in living in another person's character, wherein she can show the emotions she has long been suppressing. It is here wherein she escapes from the reality. But then, she hasn't been acting much lately. And for some reason, she doesn't miss it all that much.
(Kibum says, on a phone call one rainy night, that it's because there's no need to escape to the reality she's living in right now)
Because Yoona does not make it a point to remember bad things, she takes time to reflect about everything that has happened in her life. This way, she gets to rewind the memories and maybe, rediscover a happy memory that she has somehow failed to remember. Donghae says she looks prettier with her face scrunched up whenever she tries to remember something. Heechul will disagree with him teasingly and Leeteuk will simply laugh his esophagus out. If Ryeowook is around, he will mess her hair and Sungmin will probably smile his loving oppa-smile and excuse himself politely before the rest of the Super Junior members flock around her.
(Changmin, even with his busy schedule, makes his presence known with an equally teasing text message and she smiles as she remembers how she used to be so awkward with all these boys before)
Yoona is still the type of person who does not delve on the past but as she rediscovers memories from her trainee days, she agrees wholeheartedly that everything changes.
And most of the times, the changes aren't that bad at all.
