Title: Galau
Pairing: Sooyoung/Yuri
Rating: PG
Genre: Drama
1You catch her staring up at a cobalt-blue sky one Saturday evening at your dorm rooftop. She’s sitting with her long legs crossed on top of each other; hands resting on her knees; and back against the edge of the building. She has this faraway look; like she is somewhere else - probably, swimming somewhere over diamonds for stars and white cheese for a moon, floating in a sea of endless space.
You do not want to disturb so you turn around and leave.
“Yuri!”
She calls you; in a voice which sounds like it is coming from the farthest depths of the universe. You turn around and see her still looking at the sky and you think for a moment whether the call might have been just your imagination.
You take another step back to the stairs where you came from when she calls you again. This time, she calls you in a voice so clear and so steady. More than that, the thing that pulls you closer is how she called out your name.
Yul.
“December 4, 2004.”
She mumbles softly as you walk near her.
“Huh?”
You take the space next to her; sitting ever so carefully. The cold evening breeze meets the thirsty gusts of the dusty alley beneath you and you shiver.
“December 4, 2004. The eve of your birthday. We are sitting like this on the top of the SM building because we are waiting for the stars to fall.”
Her gaze falls down gently from the sky and lands on your confused face. She smiles as if what she sees is a look of understanding.
“That night when the stars fell, I wished for a debut and a life well-lived. You wishedfor a cute boyfriend, a fast debut, and…”
“…and everything to stay the same way.” You finished for her.
She says nothing and instead smiles tenderly at you. Your eyes find its way to the sky and you feel something warm enclose your hand.
“I thought it was a funny wish, to be honest. The one you had. To have those wishes and for everything to stay the same.” She giggles loudly and the sound bounces in the air, floats above your head, and brings you back to the days when the world you see is one full of promise and hope.
It brings you back to the days when you run freely under the rain in your school uniform; jumping, laughing, screaming at the world in front of you; back when you still had braces, had your random outburst of ssanti dances, had your belief that every frown in the world can be erased by a perfect imitation of a growling dinosaur. It takes you back to when your hair was still blacker, body a bit plumper, and heart a million times purer.
Something wet falls on you cheek and you look up to realize that it isn’t the rain.
“My last wish wasn’t granted.” You croak out the words and realize the heavy truth in your voice; sinking like lead rods into your chest, cutting your breath. You realize that you are more broken than the sounds coming from your throat and inside the strong barriers you built all over you lies a fragile little girl desperately trying to see the sky.
Your tears fall like how the stars fell on the eve of your birthday. She wipes them away with her warm, delicate fingers as she gazes into your eyes.
“No. Nothing has changed, Yul.”
She takes your hand in hers and places it in front of your chest.
“You still love me and I still love you. Everything is still the same.”
Her words calm you down as you bury your face on her shoulder.
“Everything is still the same.”

A/N: This was written in my notebook around two years ago. I just never had the chance to post it. I was about to change the characters into het for this one but at the end, it is still SooRi. Just like how it really was to begin with. :)
