This weekend, on Friday, I had an interview for a Student Assistant position at the community service learning center... aka... A JOB. It went really well, I think I answered all the questions in a good way and while I don't know who the other people they interviewed are, they really seemed to like me and were talking to me like I already the job.

I would say be up front with them about not working for the summer. (You could even say you just got a job offer for the summer months at home which means spending less money and I don't think most colleges will argue with a student takling about not having enough money). Just emphasize that you really want to work during the school year.
