Alkaline/STD/Death In The Park

We got to the venue like 5:30-ish and I was expecting a decent number of people, considering it was only an hour before doors, but there were only ten. Crazy. So we waited and I got ridiculously annoyed with Ana's constant "I'm so bored.....I'm want to rip your hair out....Let me in....What time is it?.....Ughhhh......" If you want a good spot, you have to wait.

Anyway, so we get in and wait an hour or so for DITP to go on. They put up a barrier, which I was pretty sad about, but we were still in the front, so it was all good. Death In The Park went on and no one was moving or anything. I kinda knew a few songs so that got Andy's attention. Whenever I went to take a picture of him, he would stay in the same spot, which I thought was really sweet. They didn't really say or do anything all the exciting, and neither did STD or Alkaline, but they had good music and put on a good set. Andy reminds me of a mix between Stephen and Bert, which is a messed up combination, but he's really fun to watch.

Next was Saves The Day. Again, not many people moving or singing. Everyone was there to see Alkaline, which I thought was pretty crazy. Alex from Say Anything was playing bass for them and it was their guitarist's first show. At some point during the set, the Chris and the guitarist were arguing and the guitarist goes "You're just jealous because I'm taller than you." and Chris's response was "You're just jealous...." Epic. And hilarious. Then some guy kept yelling 21 and Chris was like "Is that a song of ours?....Umm ok...47?" and the guy's all WOOOOO! I don't even know what was going on, but it was funny.

Finally, Alkaline. As always, right before the headliner goes on, everyone gets shoved up, this time into the barrier, which was right at boob level. Ow. There really wasn't anything that happened during their set. I don't think they even said anything other than "This song is...Did you like Death In The Park and Saves The Day?...Thanks for coming out....etc." So Ana was going crazy trying to get the setlist and then she asked if I wanted it since it was my birthday, but I declined because it's her favorite band. Then she gave it to some random guy. What. the. junk. And I thought she was gonna kill herself trying to get a pick. Pretty ridiculous.

We got merch after and then went and talked to the Death In The Park guys. I got their EP and they were all like "Want to buy a shirt to go with it?" and I'm all "I wish, but I don't have money." and one of them is all "That's okay, because HIGH FIVES ARE FREE!" That was awesome. So we talked to them a little bit and Andy gave me a sticker. I love little bands. They're so under-appreciated. Then we headed outside to see if there was anything exciting, which there wasn't, and headed home. Good freaking stuff. I love shows.
