and, for my third update of the evening, i present:
the famous big ben! it was there right when we got off the tube station at westminster, and you can see it from all around...
a closeup on a part of the houses of parliament
the outside of westminster abbey, looking thoroughly scary, but gorgeous... they don't let you take pictures inside, but inside is where a lot of kings and queens are buried, along with many other famous people (like sir isaac newton and geoffrey chaucer) and state officials and whatnot. coronations take place there, and they have the chair that is actually used in all of the coronations. it also holds memorials to tons of famous people, like shakespeare and charles darwin.
a closeup of the entrance to westminster abbey..
an even closer closeup of the entrance, there was these lovely statues above the door...
an image from the cloisters, looking over the courtyard inside the abbey... which is about as close to inside as you're allowed to take photos of.
and westminster abbey again, this time the other end of it, from a street a ways back.
from the pond/river-type-thing in st. james' park, looking out at the london eye (the london eye being a big ugly ferris wheel in the middle of london that's somehow supposed to be a tourist attraction)
a duckling!!
the monument to queen victoria, who i still don't like, although mommy said she was excellent because she introduced the use of anesthetics in childbirth.
the main gate to buckingham palace
buckingham palace, looking kinda dull, but there it is!
bearskin guard!
and, the canada gate because i thought it looked cool.
