NEWS Drabbles [Set 11]

Dec 25, 2010 10:00

Here are half the drabbles to the lovely girls on my f-list, since it's my Christmas. I will (hopefully) post the rest tomorrow on American Christmas.

Title: Baubles
Pairing: Ryo & Yamapi [Gen]
Rating: G
A/N: For holly_berri
Summary: Everyone knows Osakan women love bargains

“You sent your mother to buy the Christmas decorations, didn’t you,” Yamapi said, after the third ornament effortlessly fell apart in his bare hands.

He didn’t sound accusing, just matter-of-fact, and Ryo eyed him with a sidelong glance that said he’d hit the nail on the head.

“You’d better not be insulting my mother,” Ryo said finally, taking the decoration from Yamapi and tossing it at the trash bag. It missed by a mile.

“I’m not,” Yamapi went to retrieve the little broken star, making sure it reached its destination this time. “But everyone knows that Osakan women love bargains, and that ‘bargain’ goods tend to…”

“Do this,” Ryo admitted as he accidentally snapped the leg clean off a miniature reindeer. “Look, it’s not my fault that my mom managed to choose ornaments manufactured by the cheapest company ever. And we still have your lame tinsel.”

“It may be lame, but at least it’s durable,” Yamapi replied, ducking his head to hide a smile.

Ryo rolled his eyes. “Yeah, okay. Just throw me some.”

Yamapi obliged, feeling unusually cheery. Even if he contributed the worst decorations ever, there was no one other than Ryo he’d rather be doing this with.

Title: A Bird in the Hand
Pairing: Tegoshi/Yamapi, Koyama/Tegoshi
Rating: G
A/N: For Tara♥
Summary: Not everyone is susceptible to Tegoshi's charms. Just most of them.

Tegoshi isn’t arrogant enough to think that he can have anyone he wants. He’s quite aware that not everyone is susceptible to his charms and that, sad as it is, he will not always get his own way. Tegoshi isn’t as much of a realist as Shige, but he isn’t naïve.

That said, things come to him pretty easily, and he knows it. Most are susceptible to his charms, and he gets his own way a damn sight more than the majority of people in the world. He’s coddled, he’s doted upon, and he has two football teams worth of friends and acquaintances wrapped around his little finger. He may not be able to have anyone he wants, but he could probably have a good percentage of them.

Yamapi is not one of those people. Tegoshi has yet to meet anyone else who can so easily brush off his charms, smiling kind and gentle all the while, as though it’s no big deal. Even Shige, who likes to think he’s immune to Tegoshi’s ways, has a hard time resisting him. For Shige, it takes effort. For Yamapi, it’s as natural as breathing.
And so as expected, Tegoshi is somewhat captivated with Yamapi. It’s different from his old celebrity crush - that was plain admiration for an idol he’d seen on the television. This is a challenge.

It’s funny, because, like Tegoshi has already acknowledged, he could have almost anyone he wants. He knows that Koyama’s feeling for him, for example, go a little deeper than he wants to let on. He can tell from the lingering looks and touches, in the way that Koyama’s smile is just that tiny bit different when it’s directed solely at Tegoshi. Tegoshi isn’t actually particularly perceptive, but he has a strange talent for being able to tell when people like him. But it doesn’t feel like enough. Koyama’s right there, along with so many other people who’d be ready to fall over themselves to be with Tegoshi, and yet…

Well. There’s Yamapi. And even though Tegoshi knows that a bird in the hand is worth two, three, four - any number, really - in the bush, it’s somehow so much less satisfying.

Title: Grave
Pairing: Koyama/Massu
Rating: G
A/N: For lastingdreams8
Summary: Nyanta had been getting on in his years

Nyanta had been getting on in his years, but Koyama had largely ignored it, and so when the cat passed away, it was a bit of a shock. Nyanta and Koyama had seemed like a bit of a package deal to Massu and the rest of NEWS - the cat had been in the family for as long as they’d known him, and so a Koyama without Nyanta seemed to Massu a bit like himself without gyoza. If gyoza ceased to exist, he’d still be the same person, but it would certainly seem strange.

Koyama held a mini funeral for the cat, which seemed a little odd to Massu, but he figured that was okay. Koyama had loved that cat, and grief was grief, whatever the cause. If this was what he needed to do to feel better, then who was he to question it?

And so Massu went to pay his respects instead, feeling a little silly as he did, but the grateful look on Koyama’s face far outweighed that feeling. Massu listened to him talk for a while, relaying some stories about Nyanta and surreptitiously brushing a tear from his eye as he did.
Massu didn’t say much, letting Koyama do all the talking, figuring that was what he really needed.

When it was finally time to go, though, he put his hand on Koyama’s shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. “I wish Nyanta was still alive.”

Koyama gave him a tiny smile, half sad, half amused.

“You don’t like cats, Massu,” he said.

Massu shrugged. “But I like you.”

He wasn’t sure, but he thought Koyama’s smile looked a little less sad after that.

Title: Immaculate Conception
Pairing: Massu/Tegoshi
Rating: PG
Warnings: M-preg
A/N: For ryogrande
Summary: Tegoshi is pretty excited about getting a baby for Christmas. Massu, not so much.

Massu usually looked forward to Christmas, if only because there were some really awesome sales on around the time, which made it the perfect time to go clothes shopping. Unfortunately, this year was different, and now that the day was nearly upon them, he didn't want to be seen in public at all. Ever.

Tegoshi was currently giving him a loving rub on the reason for this attitude - that was, his unusually large, protruding belly.

"This will be the best Christmas ever." Tegoshi looked up at Massu through his lashes, a blissful smile across his face. "I can't imagine a better present than our very own baby."

"I can. It's called not going through childbirth on Christmas day."

Massu didn't bother to keep the sulky tinge out of his voice. This was all good and well for Tegoshi to say; he wasn't the one who looked like he had a beach ball under his shirt or had thrown up every morning for two months straight, or who had to get his stomach sliced open on the 25th - they'd arranged for a caesarean. Massu was pretty sure he wasn't going to be able to fit a baby out his ass, and the likelihood of spontaneously developing a vagina was also pretty minimal.

"I suppose you should've thought about that before you started dating a god," Tegoshi said, face completely straight until Massu fixed him with the grumpiest pout ever. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'll make sure they give you the most powerful anaesthetic available."

Massu sighed. Ever since Tegoshi had learned that the baby had been conceived during the brief period in their relationship when they'd been abstaining from sex (it was quite difficult to dance when you'd been bent over and pounded into from behind the night before) he'd been insufferable.

"Immaculate conception!" He'd crowed, then insisted it must mean he was divine.

Massu supposed he should just be happy that Tegoshi trusted him enough to instantly dismiss the idea that Massu may have cheated on him - which he hadn't done - but still. It was a little tiresome.

Still, it would be nice to finally have the baby out of him, and maybe it would even be nice to have a family with Tegoshi, as unusual as it would be.

"Do you think we should name the baby 'Jesus'?" Tegoshi asked, hand resting on Massu's stomach.

"It's a girl," Massu reminded him. Then, when Tegoshi continued to look thoughtful, quickly added, "And no, we shouldn't. I'm the one suffering, so I'm choosing."

Tegoshi's lips quirked into a grin and he absently trailed his hand from Massu's belly up to his chest.

"Knowing you, we'll probably have three more Christmases before you settle on a name.

"Tegoshi..." Massu grumbled in a warning tone, but he covered Tegoshi's hand with his own.

Tegoshi twisted it around so they were palm to palm, smile turning soft as he interlaced their fingers.
