I just want to be good...

I just got done practicing trumpet. I'm so horrible at music. Today while I was practicing I was actually embarassed. Jackie's friend Allison is over right now and she got here while I was practicing. My tone is always shaky on trumpet and Alexander (my teacher) has been giving me really slow beginner type stuff to try to fix it by making me listen ( Read more... )

Heyy. I'm not good at anything either. I'm one of like 3 juniors not in symphonic next year, I have had 2 unsuccesful attempts at drum major, the only thing I've ever won on my own in my LIFE was the seventh grade writing contest, and most people don't find my writing particularly amazing or amusing. Not to mention the fact that I can't draw or paint or even color very well, and that my handwriting is the most illegible thing in existence.

Yet I'm still a happy person. AND YOU'RE NOT TALENTLESS. As I said before, you're better than I was freshman year. You get really good grades (I got ok grades in middle school) and YOU OPERATE THE VCR/DVD PLAYER/TV BETTER THAN ANYONE I KNOW. <3333 Hearts for Janpo!

PS:Some OK Go to cheer you up:
What to do?
Sweetheart, you'll find
Mediocre people do exceptional things all the time
So even if you feel mediocre (you aren't) think of that and be reassured.

XP You shouldn't have felt embarassed. I can't play trumpet worth a damn, so everything you were playing sounded good to me XDDD And btw, I didn't get into TJ either, but I get better grades than some of my friends who DID get into TJ. It's all about the mindset. I'm not really that great at anything, but I like things that way. People don't expect anything out of me, and I don't expect anything of myself, I just am. It's kinda nice XP
