Author’s Notes: Unbeta’d, new to writing fan fiction. I already know this is awful, especially since I am playing catch up.
Disclaimer: Russell T. Davies is the almighty one who created the characters. The BBC owns them. I am merely playing with them for my own procrastination purposes. I intend to return them in near perfect condition. I am by no means making any money off of this.
Summer Wind
Frank Sinatra
The summer wind, came blowin' in from across the sea
It lingered there to touch your hair and walk with me
All summer long we sang a song and then we strolled that golden sand
Two sweethearts and the summer wind
Like painted kites, those days and nights, they went flyin' by
The world was new beneath a blue umbrella sky
Then softer than a piper man one day it called to you
I lost you, I lost you to the summer wind
The autumn wind and the winter winds, they have come and gone
And still the days, those lonely days, they go on and on
And guess who sighs his lullabies through nights that never end
My fickle friend, the summer wind
The summer wind
Warm summer wind
Mmm, the summer wind
On a rare day off Jack and Ianto decided to spend this summer day down at the beach. Ianto let Jack drive his car and after a bit of fussing to get ready, Ianto wanting to triple check that they had everything and Jack just wanting to go they finally were on there way. Ianto had his window down letting the breeze come into the car and blow his hair. “The wind blown look, looks good on you.” Jack said smiling, and placing his hand on Ianto’s thigh. Ianto tensed but then relaxed. It’s just a nice day at the beach on a warm summer’s afternoon. Once they arrived at the beach they parked the car and unpacked the blankets and food and started walking towards a spot on the sand. For a gorgeous day the beach wasn’t that crowded. They laid out their blankets and sat down on them. Ianto and Jack then took of their shoes and socks and just sat about giggling like they haven’t been to the beach in ages.
“My goodness, this sand is warm,” Jack stated as he was starting to dig a little moat around their blankets.
“Aren’t we a little old to be playing?”
“Nope never,” replied Jack as he continued digging and this time he acted like he was going to build a sandcastle.
“Jack,” Ianto hissed, “people are going to see this.”
“So,” Jack shrugged, and then said “kind of like how they are going to see this?” as he pulled Ianto in for a sweet but passionate kiss. Ianto tensed up but eventually semi melted into the kiss. He still wasn’t one for public displays of affection. They broke the kiss and Jack mentioned something about eating. Ianto got out the food from the basket, and they sat there eating bacon sandwiches and drinking water. They sat in silence and just stared out at the water with the breeze coming in and blowing their hair gently. “Lovely day out,” Ianto said.
“Much better that I’m spending it with you.”
“Let’s finish lunch so we can take a walk along the shoreline.” Jack and Ianto packed up their basket and set off for the waters edge. They walked hand in hand up the beach and just smiled at each other. This was an unspoken relaxing moment between them. They didn’t have to worry about the Rift, Weevils, or any other alien timey-wimey stuff. This was all about them and their love for one another.
