"If you cannot support your President in a time of change and turmoil, can you really hope for anything to change for the better? United we stand - right? I hope so."

Never blindly support your leaders
especially in times of turmoil
if Obama does things you disagree with, dissent
immediately

I suppose I can understand that argument. However, prior to yesterday/today, he hadn't done anything as President yet...so my main beef is with people who won't give him a chance. If you/they disagree with his opinions on any controversial subjects then you have every right to disagree. But if a brand new president is trying to improve the state of the country...dissension will make that much more difficult. Of course, this is a country of democracy and our government should be attentive to the differing views of it's citizens - but there has to be a point where people stop and say "ok, the majority voted for something I didn't agree with...but if that's what the majority wants, then I should support it so that we can move on with as much success as possible." The voting is over. Now is a time for uniting to make the country better. Dissent if you must, but I would prefer if we could at least give him a chance before people start tearing him apart ( ... )
