I'm in the lab for just a few more minutes, but I want to complain about Calculus. Actually, it's not so bad, but it's moving too fast. The thing that's moving it even faster in class are the smartasses in there that have obviously already taken the course before. Maybe they failed it before, maybe they're going for a grade replacement, or maybe ( Read more... )

commiserating.... mrerin32 June 5 2003, 13:27:40 UTC
I really can't even begin to tell you how entirely glad I am that I'm done with calculus. Don't get me wrong, I love math, but calc 2 was the bane of my existence. And people were ALWAYS getting things before i did, which was sooo annoying.
And chem can just go suck the big one. Organic chem will just be so much fun next year.
Good luck, you can make it through.

Bwahhh. Well I don't love math, but I'm pretty confident that I can get through Cal 1 and 2. But organic chemistry, that's my biggest fear!! Ha, I don't think it's easy for too many people, so good luck to you too...

i had a similar experience in my math class, with people in the back of the class shouting out answers, etc. however, i found that it only took one or two really fundamental questions from someone else to make the professor realize that not everyone in the class was at the same level. you could ask questions yourself, at the risk of appearing slow to your smartass classmates (so who cares what they think, everyone's grade is their own business). or maybe stay after for a few minutes and talk to your professor, see if he's willing to take more time during class. of course, he may just suggest that you get help from someone, in which case i'm sure you know just the person to help you...try not to be too discouraged - those who appeared to be the smartasses in my class weren't at the top of the class at the end, after all!
