Summary: Superheroes!AU. In order to create a superior force to fight back the high level of crime, the government kidnaps a group of orphaned children in order to manipulate their genes and create superhumans. As the kids grow up together in laboratories, isolated from the rest of society, the bonds between them become strong but also complex.
Once they are introduced to the public, they become national heroes and are worshiped and admired, but while the citizens feel safe and happy for having a group of superhumans looking after them, the so-called heroes have to fight their own demons. When Spencer's not on duty, he tries hard to live a normal life and avoid Jon and their twisted relationship. Brendon, whose body was deformed in an experiment gone wrong, is unable to accept his new physique, convinced that no one will ever accept or love him the way he is, even less the flawless Doctor Ross. Jon, the gang's infamous member due to his insolent and violent behavior, is the one who keeps them together, even Patrick, a former hero who has turned into an invincible villain and terrorizes the nation in revenge of his late lover, who was killed in a government experiment.
Disclaimer: After watching Watchmen more than a year ago, I felt the need to write a superhero!au. Needless to say, you’ll find some reminiscences of Watchmen, Hellboy, X-Men, Batman and maybe other comic stuff.
