Clearly they were, as it was 1812, and that was the only song played that year. It was also played constantly, over and over and over again. Speaking ill of the overture was equal to being a "red" in the 1950's. McCarthy actually got his start ousting those who spaketh southwise of the song. It's true!

We all had T-shirts too from the event. "I AM 1812" - big red letters on a black t-shirt. Was pretty awesome. First night 1813 was pretty hot too - Dick Clark hosted!

well said aldon, well said. but sadly, the stories are all forgotten on this day, and it now IS about candy heart and Russell Stover - who has stolen Valentines Day from Jesus just like he stole Christmas from Satan Claus.
