You Disconnect. I've asked my self this question multiple times over the last two years with the last six family members, one family friend, and now one close friend to pass. It's been a rocky couple of years... and really it's all concentrated into the space of one year.
But to answer your question, you disconnect. Every passing hurts. Each ones more than the last. But it becomes easier to disconnect as time goes by. How else could I smile? How else could I comfort others? I disconnect. It's like putting a sad movie on pause. Walking out of the movie theatre. It's just a short break and it can be easily broken if you think of this person too much. But it's all that I have. A short break...
