Red light cameras in Maryland failed to reduce accidents in five years of use. A set of five cameras were set up in the state in 2000, but a comparison of accident statistics five years before and five years after their installation shows accidents have increased beyond the ten percent increase in traffic volume

You almost make it sound as if the the cameras are to blame for the accidents, as opposed to the shitty drivers that are out there. :P I do agree that the cameras don't really do anything, in terms of catching these knuckleheads. It takes a lot of man power to go over these tapes, let alone, pursue people who are caught running lights.

On a side note, my roommate explained to me that there isn't a state law in Rhode Island where a new driver must have a certain amount of driving hours prior to his/her license being issued. This absolutely blew my mind! No wonder there are so many bad drivers around here!
