Cooking

I do not think I have ever been so embarrassed.

I have burned the daalYou see, my dormitory has a Western-style kitchen attached to it, and students are permitted to cook a little. I misunderstood the dials and the heat was on too far. I became distracted, and the water burned away. It burned the lentils, and there was smoke . . . The detector ( Read more... )

Cooking can be really difficult at times.
Don't worry, I'm sure you'll manage soon.
Beside, I'm sure chef Mimi'll be more than glad to help you.*smile*

Daal and rice...ne? I heard good things about that dish.*smiles*
Is it true it is more common to eat with hands in India?

I am normally not quite so bad with cooking. ._. The dials were different from home, and I became confused. If Mimi-san would like to give lessons, I am am certain that I could always use one!

Meanwhile, I think this incident will be something that the other people in my dormitory will tease me about for some time. A German boy is already starting. >.<

It is true as you say about the hands -- or traditional. One eats with the right hand, and utensils are used more often for passing food items or taking food items from a community bowl. It is not very polite to touch someone else's food. (As you can imagine, one's hands must also be very clean.)

But yes, daal is delicious! My mother makes it very wonderfully, with just a little sweetness that lingers after the spice.

Aww, that's okay. When I made cookies for Mimi-san....I...ruined the first two batches of cookies. But don't tell her I did that!

But practice makes perfect, so you just gotta keep at it. Otherwise, you'd never learn to cook!

Thank you, Daisuke-san. You make me feel a little better.

Perhaps you are a nice boy after all. ;)

What kind did you make?

What's daal? A type of food that's cooked?

Speaking of cooking...let's just say I'm pleased that my Kaa-san never burned down the house whenever she cooks, which is all the time...! ^^;

I know her cooking's questionable; Hikari knows her cooking's questionable. Problem is, I think her taste buds have been taken out long ago. ^^;;

Just be glad you didn't burn the whole dorm down. Believe me, it's happened. And before anyone asks, no I haven't done it!

I could not imagine if that would have happened! I would have to leave the country in disgrace. ._.

I could very well have done it, too. I hate to think of it!

I do hope your fingers are all right. I once burned my tongue on hot cocoa and it was one of the most unpleasent sensations I've ever had.

What a lovely think to be able to cook though. Ms. Catherine is very good at it, but it would look suspicious if I began to cook in the kitchen as everyone thinks that I am an expensive robotic doll.

Ah, another digimon! It is nice to meet you.

My fingers are a little sore, but the burn is not so bad. I have some ice, and Bakumon has scolded them thoroughly. I think, though, that the burns of the tongue, as you mentioned, are some of the very worst.

A robotic doll? Digimon are not known in your house?
