Rusty is present, of course, this being his hotel. How he ended up in a costume that is not 'A secret agent' or 'Not a hotel manager' or 'a guy with a hat on', no one is sure, but it probably has something to do with the fact that it's a themed costume, and the other half is ... well. Gates. He manages to still look entirely relaxed and at home - the martini glass may have something to do with that.

(Though working a blazer into an Oberon costume is kind of impressive.)

Speaking of the other half of Rusty's costume - yes, that would be Gates as Titania, and while he managed to work a blazer into his, she has...managed to make a costume that seems to be 75% purple and blue shimmering body-paint and glitter. There's a little tiara in her loose, curled hair and aside from the ridiculously over-sized fairy-wings, the rest of it is 'strategic chiffon'.

Possibly shoes were involved at some point; she's barefoot when she invades Rusty's personal space to examine his drink and unnecessarily adjust the sit of his blazer. His blazer, he is more absurd than she is.

Clearly.

"I can't even call you princess," he remarks, just raising his eyebrows mildly as she inspects him. Somehow, he doesn't look ridiculous, but he still looks like 'Rusty wearing a weird outfit', as casual as can be.

"Next time, pumpkin." Gates doesn't even remember what she did - or if she did anything - for Halloween last year, so it's sort of a crapshoot as to whether or not she'll do anything next year. Who knows! That she's bothering this year probably involves the opportunity to boss Rusty around for fun and profit.

Tosh slips in as quietly as possible to the party, alone and wearing what she's sure is the most boring costume ever -- a simple black skirt and blouse set, and a mask.

(Because she's dressed as an evil genius, you see. The mask is only because Remy said she wasn't allowed to come without one.)

She heads straight for a strategically quiet corner, possibly behind a plant, and proceeds to engage in some serious people-watching.

Watch this, Tosh! It's a tall woman covered in glitter and paint making her way towards you, armed with a martini glass she doesn't seem even remotely interested in.

"Hello! I don't think we've met, I'm just introducing myself to people - you are so cute, what did you come as?" ...she's very friendly.

Well that is certainly much more effort than Tosh bothered putting into her costume. Not that any amount of effort, she's sure, would let her pull off a look like that.

She smiles up at the woman. "No, I don't think we have. I'm Toshiko, a friend of Remy's?" Like there's anyone at this party who isn't. "Uh...it's silly, really. I'm supposed to be an evil genius." In-jokes probably do not make good costume ideas, Tosh.

"I've never actually met him," Gates admits freely - she came as the hotel owner's date, after bullying him into being the Oberon to her Titania. "But I'm Gates! And that is fantastic, are you feeling incredibly wicked at the moment?"

...her costume is semi-indecent, possibly this is an inherently inappropriate question.

Christine is, by the hand of fate and by virtue of getting here through her dressing room door, wearing a costume. It's one of those dresses that suggests fairly non-specific 'pre-modern poverty' through shades of beige and dark brown, an extremely full skirt, and a...significantly less full top half, which is nice, if that kind of things (or these two things) are to your taste. She lost most of her stage make-up in the lobby bathroom while she was cleaning up, and now she's at this party, where the talking trees seem to just be animatronic and the monsters are just people in costumes and there are no giant robots or cotton candy trains or cartoon characters-

She rather suddenly sits down amid a rustle of skirts to put her head in her hands, not ready to bother with trying to rationalize anything until she can...breathe instead of gasp rhythmically, among other things.

...oh my goodness that girl does not look quite in the party spirit and it's a bit early in the night for alcohol poisoning. Gates makes an executive decision to go and check on her, and hopefully the abrupt addition of her shimmering and semi-naked self to Christine's field of vision won't be additionally distressing.

"Hello, sweetpea, are you all right?" she asks, holding her cocktail carefully when she crouches so as not to flash anyone (much).

Christine nods, quickly, and then reconsiders and shakes her head, dislodging one of the bobby pins in her meticulously arranged hairstyle, now somewhat less so.

"This- it's- I am so-" She has a very faint accent in English, and gestures a lot when she speaks. "This is not real. I am not going to believe in this."

"It's a Halloween party," Gates says, soothingly - her accent is 'incredibly British', albeit not the BBC standard that people outside England tend to associate with them. "You don't have to believe in anything, d'you get lost somehow?"

Grif had considered a couple of possible alternatives for a costume, but couldn't quite shake his usual paranoia of being in the Nexus without his armor, even in a portion of it that should be totally safe. So he cheaped out again, downloading an update to the Master Chief software for his armor's voice filter and changing the color configuration of his armor's plating to Standard SPARTAN Green. He'd had to leave a lot of what he'd usually take with him back at base, since they were things the Chief wouldn't have carried, but he did generally expect the hosts of the party to keep things safe, really, so that was okay ( ... )

Rusty's spoken to Grif before, his typist believes, but never in person. He usually sticks to text interaction in the Nexus, so this is a bit of a first.

"Welcome," he says, looking up (and up) at the green armor.

They have, in fact, chatted before, but only online. The last time was about Halloween plans and costumes, even.

Grif, meanwhile, has been taking in the scenery, but pulls himself away at Rusty's approach. "Thank you. This place is great. I like that the seasonal decorations are just bizarre enough to give a bit of that Nexus flavor, without it being the full crazy." He extends his hand. "Name's Grif."

"Thanks," he says, about the hotel. He actually left it up to Hotel Elves. ... He's not sure if they're really elves, they just work here, and seem to be magical. Maybe they're Smurfs.

"Rusty Ryan." Is his hand going to get crushed? He hopes not.

Lucy sort of ... maneuvers her way into the party rather than any other sort of entrance, on virtue of 'fuck these heels are taller than I normally wear by like ten thousand inches.'

She is, in fact, dressed as Jessica Rabbit - and hoping to not, like, meet an actual Jessica Rabbit or anything while she's around - weirder things have happened, but she'd rather not.

Her hair is actually a cleverly-chosen LOL instead of a wig (thanks to the chunky ring she's wearing over her purple gloves), who would have thought.

"Christ, these heels have got to go before the end of the night," it's muttered to herself - it runs in the family, okay - as she makes a beeline for the bar.

"What the fuck are you supposed to be?" ...Laurel is campaigning to have the worst track record with introductions in history. She's changed shirts, but not her jeans, since her arrival, and both her white tank top and ragged jeans have a fine mist of blood on them. She's also carrying an axe. She calls it 'crazed lesbian axe murderer'. (The blood is real, and hers. Horrifying possibilities: she applied it herself for the occasion.)

She's leaning against the bar with this axe next to her hand, and addressing her polite inquiry directly to Lucy's cleavage.

Lucy eyes Laurel a moment (she's had to force her cop-brain into sleep mode for the night, it's a Halloween party, Lucy, jeez), then shrugs. "Jessica Rabbit." She has a glass in hand by now, and takes a sip of her drink. "I like yours, by the way."

"I don't know who that is. You look like you're going to fall over." Laurel frowns, looking up at her face, at long last. "Thanks. I made it myself." Imagine the enormous effort involved.

"So is this place supposed to creep the shit out of me or what?"
