Perhaps a Golden City.

I'm reading Otherland...a Tad Williams book split into two volumes. After 180 pages of lead-in the story has achieved magestic, sweeping, achingly gorgeous qualities. Epic and dark in its proportions. The pages flip by without hesitation. An hour or more passing through my fingers with the steady scan of eyes, slow lash of lids, musty crusts of ( Read more... )

*claps* I love the Otherland books...is this your first time reading them?

I was so completely in love with them that I was torn between wanting to savor every page and take it slow, and wanting to find out what happened next...I want to read them again, already, but I have so many other books to read first.

I recently got my hands on the first book in the Green Angel Tower series. Tad Williams so rocks...I love him to pieces.

Have you read Shadowmarch yet? It's the first of a new fantasy series of his...very good but I'm so impatient for the next installment...

If I could only read one book/series over and over for the rest of my life, it would definitely be the Otherland books. Nothing else compares.

Yeah, I can definetly see how each reading brings you new insights. And it is my first time reading the Otherland duo. I'm almost done with the Golden City. Much like Gaiman, Williams is bringing in a whole bunch of old fairy tales and mythology. Have you read any of Gaiman's novels? Good Omens and American Gods are both fantabulous. After these two I'm moving on to the last three of the green angel, having only read Dragonbone Chair. I'll most likely have to reread it, however, since it was a few years ago. I made a list of all the books I need to read or reread. Narnia 1-7 comes after the Tad Williams spree.

I haven't read any of Gaiman's stuff yet but I recognize the name--he's definitely on my 'to read' list. When someone recommends an author, they get bumped up to the top of that list.

Lists...it is so unlike me, but I actually catalog all my books, when I read them, how many times I've read them before, etc etc. It might seem too organized and meticulous but if I don't keep track of it there's no way I'll remember.

I gotta reread the Narnia books one of these days, too.
