i am, but not a slow end that we can adapt to. by end of civilization as we know it i have always meant "wipe the slate clean and start over again from the ashes." in other words, a war or disease or something that literally ends it. peak oil just makes things expensive and forces us to adapt or slowly lose everything.
but by definition, survival is adaptation. we'll 'adapt' if AIDS becomes airborne or our gas becomes expensive. depending on what your idea of peak oil happens to be, it may or may not be bell curved. oil supply will be, true, but everything else may go to hell and flinders faster than you can say "alternative sources of energy won't make up for current consumption."
me too, and am i the only one who really feels like it's coming SOON?septemberglowsMay 1 2006, 20:17:03 UTC
should have come to the beloit march. there were AT LEAST 500 people there. i'm actually glad i opted for this instead of chicago. i'll tell ya more about it later.
i want it now too. now now now. or maybe just after i get back to where i can make it to your resort/commune plan.
i was going to go march with some communists yesterday in San José, but instead I sat at home and wrote a paper too. at least I wrote a lot.
also, i was not aware of nothing gringo day. i think the people here are too polite to tell me. maybe it's a good thing i hid in my house and wrote all day.
