Comic Book Fans Boycott Borders

Borders is closing their comic book sections in many of their stores.  Comic fans are calling for a boycott.

Honestly, as a comic book retailer, I say woo hoo! This is one less giant that the FLCBS has to bleed to contend with.

It's great news for comic shops. I don't know if it's good news for comic book fans though. I see it as a step back for the public at large to get into comics and a little further away from comic books beings excepted as an art form.

I don't understand the reason for this. I prefer to support my local comic shops. A boycott just seems redundant.

It's really about the larger picture. Comic books themselves cannot last without larger appeal. That larger appeal isn't going to happen with just local shops. The comic book industry needs this support.
