It's Bush's last day...
I've got a countdown calendar that ends today. When I bought it, I was only looking forward to the idea that he would be out of office. Now there's more to look forward to than I ever imagined.
I can't be in DC like I want to, but I will be going to the Atlanta celebration. I can't wait to see the CNN coverage tomorrow night. I'm really interested to see how the world reacts. I think we're going to see more and more global interest in what's going on with us, instead of fear and trepidation of what we might do when someone's back is turned. I really hope...
I was remembering last night, when Bush was making the inaugural trip, how he had to be hurried away to a limo because people we throwing eggs. I think tomorrow we may just find out what the opposite of throwing eggs is.
I know Obama is a man like any other, and I do expect some disappointments, but I still can't describe how excited I am for us as a country, and for all of the others who look up to America as a "rock", maybe we can begin to live up to that expectation again.
