Rating: PG-13?
Characters: Steve, Thor, Tony. Thor/Steve
Disclaimer: I don't own the rights. I just buy the merchandise. That kind of rhymed.
Summary: Where Thor is smitten, Steve is oblivious, and Tony is kind of mature (don't get used to it).

There was a not so heated discussion between two friends in the cafeteria of Avengers Tower.

"But I am a God."

Steve sighed. "Here we go again. I'm a Christian. I believe in one God. One. How about I meet you halfway and call you Lord."

"The difference between God and Lord is what exactly?" Thor asked.

" I don't see Christian groups throwing a huge fit over British lords and ladies, of course I've been otherwise detained for 70 years so who knows if that's changed. You're a supernatural Lord"

Thor smirked. "Basically a God."

Steve sighed, clearly they would not see eye to eye about this. "Why does it matter so much that I believe or call you a God? I know you may feel disrespected, but it's not intentional."

"I understand Midgardians can be very," Thor tried to chose the right word. He wanted to say stubborn but felt that would not go over well with Steve, especially since offending him was the exact opposite of what he wanted to do to Steve. Finally a word that might not cause offense came to mind. "Passionate when it comes to their beliefs."

Steve nodded and smiled. "This is true. Mostly our intentions are good, but there is always some who twist their beliefs to cause suffering for others."

"Yes, they do. It is a good thing they have you here then, my dear friend."

"I'm just a kid from Brooklyn."

"You're far more than that. You're spirit is a strong as an Asgardian. I'd swear it on all the nine realms."

Thor continued. "I do believe you will go to Valhalla and be by my side for the last battle."

Steve was confused by what he meant but the look of happiness and pride on Thor's face, well it must mean a great deal. "Any battle you need help with I'd help, for you. Where's Valhalla?"

"Some warriors go there when they die and prepare for the last great battle, Ragnarök."

Steve nodded politely. Thor saw his uneasiness. He kneel down and took Steve's hands in his and held them tight. "Whatever our differing beliefs, please give me this: That in the afterlife we are still side by side. Warriors, nay, friends for all eternity."

Steve nodded. "Now that I do believe." Steve gave a warm smile that pleased and warmed Thor very much.

Thor continued. "And maybe in the afterlife we - "

The sound of the elevator door cut Thor off and out of the elevator came Tony Stark. Tony looked at the kneeling Thor. "Are you proposing?"

A shocked Steve frowned at Tony, while a frustrated Thor tried to control his temper and remember Tony was a comrade in arms and a friend.

"When's the wedding?" Tony joked.

Steve looked at the obviously pissed Thor. "Knock it off, Tony."

Thor got up, but not before Steve grabbed Thor's arm. "Thank you for trying to understand my beliefs, even if they don't match up with yours."

Thor's anger slowly diminished and Tony noticed a certain smile Thor gave to Steve. Tony also noticed Steve was completely oblivious to what kind of smile he was being given. Shocker, Tony noted to himself sarcastically.

"Do you want to continue?" Steve asked.

"No, not right now, later maybe." Thor answered, with a touch of disappointment.

Tony chimed in. "Don't mind or blame me. Maybe the cafeteria is not the best place for private discussions since people will come in here at odd hours to, ya know, not starve to death."

Steve gathered the trash from his and Thor's meals and headed to a trash can to dump it. Thor noticed Tony's smirk and sighed heavily. He knew.

"You're gonna need a lot of help to get that one in your bed. He's the captain of oblivious." Tony said.

Thor marched up to him and hovered over him. "Do not disrespect him and do keep your voice down!"

"Okay, Point Break, okay. He's old fashioned, you know. He might not even swing that way."

"I think I understand what you mean by that."

"Believe it or not I don't want to see you hurt."

"What's going on?" Steve asked concerned. Obviously he had caught the very last of the conversation.

Tony looked at Thor to explain. No way was he gonna anger Thor more than he had.

Both stared at Thor for an answer. Tony sighed at Thor's lack of answer. Thor may be a god of war, but he was really sucking at being the god of getting laid. Clearly he was gonna need some help from like a fairy godmother.

"Just a mission, no concern yet. Just some civil war happening in Wakanda." Tony answered for Thor. Tony wasn't lying, it did look like they were gonna be needed there to help.

"There's a magazine that is doing a feature on us and if you two don't mind answering some of the questions they gave me about social issues, it would be a great help." Now that was a lie. A lie being sweetened by Tony giving his best puppy dog look.

"I'm not gonna take no for an answer boys, both of you great at speech giving and - well do really want my answers to speak for team . You know Natasha would avoid this and I got a feeling Barton's answers wouldn't differ that far from mine. Plus Bruce in Africa."

Steve looked at Thor. "He had me at 'do really want my answers to speak for team'."

Thor chuckled.

The three sat down. Tony made sure Thor sat next to Steve.

"Okay one of the main things going on today is equal rights for homosexuals. Thoughts?" Tony asked while he looked at Steve.

"Well everyone has right to their opinions and I do believe the issues at hand are to be placed in the voting booth. The best place for change is to make it happen in a diplomatic way. I definitely disagree with handling it violently. These hate crimes I saw on the television was quite disheartening. That's not the same as having differing views on sex and marriage whether it be between people of the same gender or even a different race, it's pure hate and distorting their views to explain their hate."

"Okay." Tony thought to himself that Steve should be a politician. He had found a way to answer the question, yet not answer it at the same time.

"So if one of your male fans or maybe a co-worker asked you out, would you consider going out with him if he is a man?"

Steve gulped. Is Tony trying to ask me out? He thought to himself.

"I've never fallen in love with a man so I wouldn't know. Anything can happen I guess. Regardless of gender, I wouldn't want to be a notch on their bed post. I'm a relationship kind of guy." Steve felt his palms begin to sweat. "On the co-worker thing, it depends on the co-worker." Steve gave Tony a look over and shook his head no.

Tony rolled his eyes. 'The idiot thinks I'm the one who wants to pounce him.'

"I'm going to get a drink. Anyone need drinks?" Steve asked. He needed to get away from this awkward situation quickly.

Thor and Tony said no. Steve went off for a drink and silently cursed the fact that the super soldier serum made it impossible to get drunk.

"Well that was embarrassing and pointless. Though watching him turn you down was amusing." Thor looked back at Steve to see him taking his time to come back to the table. Steve was even more attractive to gaze upon when he felt awkward.

"Actually I found it to be quite informing. From what I can see he's open to it, but it can't be sex based. He's a fucking Disney princess!" Tony saw Thor's eyes twitch with anger. "Sorry. Just don't hit me. Well I'm going to go find Pepper and see if I can get a mercy fuck since I just got turned down by a guy I wasn't even hitting on."

Tony got up from his chair and on his way he muttered. "Bippity boppity boo."

After Tony left Steve walked back to the table. Steve laughed uncomfortably. "That was awkward. Did he ask you out - I mean ask you questions too?"

Thor laughed wholeheartedly. "No and yes. I do believe he's in love with Lady Pepper."

"With Tony you never know. I'll apologize the next time I see him."

"One of the things I admire most about you Steve is that you always try to see both sides or at least respect both sides as much as possible. He is right, you are diplomatic."

Steve blushed at the compliment. "I don't know what to say. Thank you."

Thor looked at the clock above Steve. "It's late."

Steve looked up. "I didn't even notice how late it was." He looked back at Thor. "Time flies while your having fun with great company, huh." Thor smiled. "Well this mortal, as you would say, needs his sleep. I'm planning to go to the cemetery nearby, one of the Howling Commandos is buried there."

"If you don't mind, may I come with you to pay respect to your Howling Commando?" Thor asked.

"Sure, I'd love the company." Steve answered. He got up and patted Thor's shoulder. "Night... supernatural lord."

Thor chuckled at his comment and watched his heart's desire leave the room.

As the elevator doors opened Steve saw Tony.

"There needs to be more elevators here. I'm gonna have Jarvis take a note of that." Tony stated.

Steve entered the elevator. "Tony, I'm sorry. I thought you were kind of hitting on me."

"Considering I'm heading to Pepper's floor for condoms kind of proves that wrong. Plus you are like the third or fourth man I'd consider sleeping worth. Your not very high on my food chain, sorry."

"Okay changing the subject. Pepper has her own floor?"

"I can be a little overwhelming and she needs her 'quiet time'."

"I can see that. Why did you ask me those questions? There wasn't even a interview, was there?"

"For a friend and nope."

"So there's a friend of yours that is interested in me? A male friend?"

"You could say that."

"Are you going to tell me who?"

"I think you need to figure that out for yourself." Tony answered and looked at the elevator doors in front of him. "You know in the movies the doors would have opened  at this moment so I could escape from this conversation."

After a few awkward seconds the elevator doors opened. Tony turned to Steve before he left. " Before you figure out who is your secret crush, figure out who you are first. If you think you may be uncomfortable being with a man then don't seek him out."

"That's oddly mature of you Tony."

"Yeah, don't get used to it or tell anybody." Tony gave him a wink as he departed the elevator.

The doors closed and Steve sighed deeply. "Well all this was totally unexpected. Finding myself shouldn't be that hard. I mean I would know if I was gay, wouldn't I? Shouldn't be that hard at all."

But something in him knew this wasn't going to be remotely easy.
