Even before we started trying to conceive, I knew I might have some problems with the back injuries during pregnancy. but little did I know how much pain I was going to have

every thing pretty much goes through the OB/GYN at this point. my next appt (with the non-ghetto doctors) is at the end of july. I am going to hit the gym's swimming pool more to get the weight pressure off my back, but until I get the ob/gyn's okay, it isn't the wisest thing for pregnant women to just go somewhere and also specialists typically require a doctor's note stating that the pregnancy is fine and that treatment is okay.
the ghetto place doc, who was looking like a trapped dear when I actually had questions (*hate that place*) told me to get a maternity belt for during the day to relieve the weight pressure on my lower back.
*nods* i understand that we have differing opinions on this subject and i'm definitely not trying to push the issue, but i really think this is something your MD won't be able to help you with and since you won't be able to have pain meds while pregnant you'll only end up more miserable later.
any chiropractor that wouldn't see you because you're pregnant you wouldn't want as a doc anyway. and these days it's like finding a needle in a haystack to get an MD that would recommend chiropractic period. they just work from completely different angles and most can't see any kind of combined treatment.
i'd guess that your pain issues are actually all about your pelvis and how you're carrying the weight though. and that's the part that i think can be easily relieved for you. i have a friend, currently pregnant going through the exact same thing. she's bluestocking if you'd like to talk to her about it a bit

I can totally relate to your discomfort. I have been so baffled lately about why I am in so much back pain. Granted I am much bigger than I was with Tessa but still...and then I remembered...I had back surgery when Tessa was about 6 and I have not been pregnant since. All of the pain and symptoms are the same right down to my numb left leg if I stand for more than 10-15 minutes. I think the only cure for me will be to give birth...bleh! only 2o more weeks to go for me! I hope yours gets better!
your ob is probably better than mine at helping finding ways to end or lesson pain. though I did receive the suggestion of getting a maternity belt to lift the belly pressure off of the lower back.
but since I can't sleep in the thing, midnight potty breaks will still be very very painful getting out of bed.
