Here's an issue--
I've got so many ideas for works I want to do--and not enough time to do them all. I want to produce more work than I am making but not at the compromise of quality. Unfortunately, there aren't as many forgiving short cuts in traditional medium as there are in digital medium. It's not a very efficient way of working. But at the ( Read more... )

Ravers A+

Here's what I think about art school now that I've been out for a few years. Finishing art school is like "baby steps" for getting into art. Once you leave... it's like... woah... there's so much more out there. Going to ACAD was like a foot in the door but it can easily shut if one abandons art after they are done with school. Practice practice practice.... that's it, that's all in my opinion. I wish I had spent more time milking instructors for information in school and less time "trying to be an artist".

I mean...I get traditional stuff done pretty quickly. Maybe you just need to try working larger, and faster? I don't know. :) There are plenty shortcuts with traditional art. What medium are you working with?

right now, I'm working with acrylic ink on Masonite. It's faaantastic fun <3 Behaves a lot like markers, but with a brush. More control than watercolors, and you can really get into some nice rendering with it.
I'll photograph some work I'm doing right now when I get the chance :9
It's not much different than my digital stuff--except, you know--traditional.

I'm the opposite right now, I can do stuff with traditional medium I don't know how to pull off in digital.

Its damn fast though.
