dude. heads up on all of that. great stuff. i wish we were all in a discussion class. and also that white guy who has that im -better-than you cuz im white thang goin on, i would have gone off on his ass, even though u are right that he is just stating the truth.
p.s. in the 90's it was all about the latino thang, i belive in the 2000's its turning asian invasion, in the best possible way, if u know what i mean. the media is changing, every commerical as at least one asian representative. i dunno, i kinda like it. oh and plus! my dream to see an asian woman portrayed as the lead lover without having to see her as an "asian" but just an average american has come true. kinda... stuck on you, chicago, fame.. i dunno theres more but i think we are comin on up in the limlight.. hollywood.!! yee haw! here i come!

The white guy wasn't necessarily condescending, it was more of a "yeah, so we do have the power, you want us to just give it all to you?" That sort of tone surprised me, but all in all he was civil about everything.
Asian women were always portrayed in an "attractive" light, as either prostitutes, exotic sexual beings, submissive marital slaves, or "white-man-save-me-from-Asia" in war and kung-fu movies. I'm glad to see Lucy Liu finally get roles where her brain's acknowledged like Kill Bill, though I don't blame her for all the Charlie's Angels and other stereotypical roles. If I got paid 5.5 million bucks to do those roles I'd willingly scream "so where the fuck the kimono at?! kung fu me the fuck up!!"
I'm glad to see an Asian male presented desirably, even though only in the independent film space. Yea, there's Better Luck Tomorrow and Charlotte Sometimes and stuff, but there's a new one called Japanese Story with Toni Colette (she played the mother in The Sixth Sense and the psycho mum in About a Boy, fucking great actress
