you all may have seen a television show or two that showed the home of someone with the hoarding spectrum of obsessive compulisive disorder. this is a very rare condition found in a tiny fraction of people with OCD and that of course is a small fraction of the general population. i personally tend to be a bit obsessive with the order of certain ( Read more... )

with the size of that place, the person living there was not far from completely overwhelming the space. the piles of crap in the bedroom were nearly 4 feet high...right next to the bed too! i just had to share those pics as a study of an extreme personality trait. the possibilities of the human psyche are fascinating.

She's like Kobayashi with those Whataburgers.

See that Benson & Hedges butt #32,461? That was a *really memorable* cigarette smoke. It has entirely too much emotional value to actually dispose of outside the apartment. Best to not part with it.

I'm not getting any rationale behind this style of living.

Thanks for the link. It was sick. My cousin is doing a little time for pot possession. Supposedly thats all it is. If so, it's a travesty. Extended family are always weird.

it is very difficult to understand how one could go so far. i am sure we have all let our places get a bit trashed now and then (college comes to mind), but with these people it goes so freakin' far. they usually can't rationalize it themselves and develop massive shame because of it. that leads to never letting others see where they live and isolation. with even less reason to have a presentable dwelling, they can let things go even further. very tragic and disgusting, yet intriguing.

I find it fascinating (and scary) to see images like that. We have a nurse at work who "hoards" things in secret spaces, away from where they're usually stored. Its usually a rats nest. I hate to think of what her house looks like.
