in my opinion, this time of year is the best time for horror movies. Alabama is tricky in this regard, since the seasonal change is rather variable, but when the days end earlier and it is dreary, that is when the mood is set for horror movie enjoyment. i was looking at movie trailers the other day and came across this one:

Aw man, I had heard mumurs of a remake. We watched part 2 back in October. It's so short and to the point. I only saw scenes of the TCM remake as I was working on tracks through it. Heard it was disappointing. As if the original isnt badass enough. They could never compete with inherent creepiness of the cameras, film and brutality of it.

And I do agree, this is the time of year for horror!!

the TCM remake was not a bad movie per se, but as you said the original was badass enough, so why straight remake the movie? there was virtually nothing significant added to it. the best part about that original movie is that there was virtually no gore in it at all. you would think there was after watching it, but most of the gore is implied and not shown directly.

i haven't seen a slasher type horror movie at the theater in forever and may have to check this one out.

2012 is what I would have been working on in California.
Most of the folks I know who are working on it refer to it as "Day 2,"
as in the sequel to The Day After Tomorrow,
as it's apparently extremely similar.

if that is the case then it will be worth watching, simply to see the "shit go down", etc. The Day After Tomorrow's plot was totally ridiculous, but it was fun from an effects standpoint.
