I write EVERYTHING down. I have piles of post it notes on my desk, 2 different sized notebooks in my purse, and a pile of three ring binders by the bed

To be clear, my thought (or "observation" really), is that the only time I ever write anything by hand is in brief notes to myself, not in anything which would be viewed by anyone but me. I've found that the only time anyone sees my writing is a handful of checks and the occasional greeting card.
On the other hand, I type many thousands of words per month. And more kids (and adults) write more to each other than ever before (which is a good thing - uh sometimes).
Handwriting may not be "obsolete", like cassette tapes, but it is endangered, or has tuned into a part-time, private undertaking, and will not return as a main way to share information.
...and my handwriting SUCKS anyway, so good riddance!

For me, I don't think that handwriting (or, more generally, using pen and paper) will ever go away. It's simply the fastest and easiest way I know to take notes, especially if I need to use any sort of notation (boxes, mathematics, arrows, etc). Sure, I could do that in a program, but it'd be much much slower

But that proves my point, see? In that case, the purpose of actually writing it would have been a joke.

That's depressing. No wonder so many younger people have horrid handwritting.
