A Grand Game

Disclaimer: I do not own Eyeshield 21 or its respective characters. I'm not making money off of this so, don't try sueing me for it. You will gain nothing and make me cry and that would be sad.

Author's Comments: This is a submission for hiruma_x_mamori's Sports prompt. I enjoyed it, hope the rest of you do too.

Clifford did not want to get involved in their spats, he really didn't.... )

Bwhaha, that's just precious! He can be devious and calculating as much as he wants to, but it's Mamori's win all right. No doubt about it XD

I wanted to do something where there was an unclear winner and things were tossed back and forth for a bit, then it all resolves with one winner. And still managing to have a wonderful pairing moment.

I'm really glad you liked it!

haha... I should have known that Hiruma has some hidden agendas and back-up plan after all. As expected of that guy. He really is such a manipulating bastard isn't he? But seriously two-thumbs up for Mamori for being able to pull-off those "quite-impossible" tasks ^_-

Though the funniest thing is that Mamori was in fact right when she was thinking he was being jealous and even Hiruma didn't realize this until the end.

Yes he is a manipulating bastard, which makes it critical that Mamori did get some first hand experience from someone who is also a manipulating bastard.

Glad to see you liked it!

LOL!! Clever! I love the inclusion of Clifford! He would know quite a bit about Hiruma's characteristics, since they're both somewhat similar in a certain way. So Mamori learning a bit about Hiruma through him makes sense. Especially through his best game! Nice!

I got this vision in my head of Mamori having to learn gambling to beat Hiruma, so the only person in the world she could have turned to would be the one person who's defeated Hiruma: Clifford. Besides, I needed an excuse to work with his voice to get Songs to work for me....

When learning anything, you've usually got to learn from someone better than you. ^^

Seems like Hiruma isn't the only one that will go all out to achieve his goals. lol. Mamori seeking out Clifford to learn how to gamble was great, even if it was Hiruma's plan to drive her there all along. He's such a cunning guy, that one! But you can't help but love him. =D

Well, at least Mamori got one over on him in the end. lol. I do hope he asks her on a date after this, though. He needs to work out his feelings for her... and then marry her. *Grins*

Nice job on the story! And thanks for writing for the contest. <3

Wait, I just won?

I personally liked playing the idea of role reversal, but with Mamori she's not going to run around and blackmail to get what she wants. So her manipulation is more 'innocent'. And of course, she's also lucky in cannon, so these kind of things can happen to her (like the thing with the grandfathers).

I may sit down and write a continuation of this. In which Hiruma does confront his feelings. It might involve a call from Clifford who would be ranting about getting involved in one of his little 'spats' with Mamori.

And I really enjoyed making Hiruma, someone who is in perfect control, have his own body betray him. You cannot always control your body's reaction to certain things. ;)

I'm glad you liked it.

Oh! Er, no - the voting hasn't begun yet (it will begin on February 1st). I'm so sorry if I gave you that impression! I comment on everyone's entries to show my support. Hirumamo artists and writers keep the fandom alive, so I will support them in any way I can! ^_^

Really? 8D Well, a continuation might fit in quite nicely for February's contest. You can probably guess what the prompt will be. lol. XD

It was a great idea to do that to him. Evil, but great. *Grins* If just the thought of her in black lace panties did that to him, I wonder how he'd react to actually seeing them. Haha. ;D

Nah, that was my fault. You said 'thanks for writing' and as it was too early in the morning my time I read it as 'thanks for winning'. Hence my confusion.

I think I can. XD

It'd probably involve certain parts of him getting very excited.
