(I'm trying to review all the free or cheap e-books I read all the way through. This is one. It's a $3 book on Amazon, but BookBub had for free one day.)

I wasn't expecting a lot out of I Bring The Fire: I (Wolves) by C. Gockel. The god Loki bouncing around in modern-day America could be done badly so easily.

It's also free on Smashwords, so I gave it a try and gave up fairly rapidly. Reading it helped codify an informal system I had for rating books (1-5). Attempted rape of female protagonist in first few pages: -1 character saves herself & proves how tough she is, -3 character is saved by male protagonist, -3 character is not saved from rape and this motivates the rest of the story, -6 character is raped & killed and this motivates the male protagonist who then becomes the PoV character. With a starting -3 and writing that is perfectly adequate, but non-awesome, I stopped reading.

Now we get to see if it (a) makes it to my phone and (b) I actually read it. c_c My phone has a bunch of books for me to get to reading eventually ....
