I thought the great American tradition was compulsory education enforced by marching children to the schoolhouse gates at gunpoint?

Well, I want to chat with you about those there experiences of yours.

Only since Andrew Carnegie started lobbying for compulsory education in the mid-late 1800s, when he found that people who were trained to do things at the ring of a bell were very efficient on the assembly-line.

Seriously, the institution of free nationwide public schooling had a lot to do with industrialists wanting factory workers who were already used to the regimens that people experience from K-12 today. And I'd love to chat with you anytime.

Dear Lynne,

I apologize for not stopping to say hi to you when we were in the same building. I forgive you for the same failing.

Love,
John

Are you around in late December and early January?
