Here's my shiny new song: a cheery, lilting little waltz in C, fun and easy to play on the guitar, violin, pennywhistle, flute, harp or piano, with infinitely-filkable verses and extremely simple sing-along lines. I think it'll be very popular, travel far, and have a long lifetime.
Take Off Your Crown And Sit Down
Take off your crown and sit down, My Lord,
Take off your crown and sit down,
The way you behave is disgraceful to see,
You've need of some schooling in excellency,
For failure of courtesy's greater to blame
The greater the title in front of the name,
So take off your crown and sit down.
Take off your crown and sit down, My Lord,
Take off your crown and sit down,
Don't think that you're dealing with children or fools,
We do not require you to teach us the rules,
Oh yes, you've impressed us, you're loud and you're large,
But nobody died here and left you in charge,
So take off your crown and sit down.
Take off your crown and sit down, My Lord,
Take off your crown and sit down,
Remember the danger in blowing so hard's
How tempting a target you make for the bards,
And next time you find yourself clear in the wrong,
Apologize ere you inspire a song;
Take off your crown and sit down.
Take off your crown and sit down, My Lord,
Take off your crown and sit down,
If this little tune leaves your nose out of joint,
So sorry, but how else would you get the point?
And pointier verses are easy to write,
In fact we could probably sing them all night,
So take off your crown and sit down.
Take off your crown and sit down, My Lord,
Take off your crown and sit down,
This ditty will haunt you at feast and at war,
But very few know who they're singing it for,
So if you'd complain it's unjust or untrue,
Step up and admit it was written for you,
Or take off your crown and sit down.

NOTE: I grant permission for anybody to sing or play this song, to filk it to fit their own needs, to post it, pass it around or whatever. The tune is mine; you can borrow it freely, but don't steal it for profit. I doubt anyone in their right mind would pay much for the words.
Unfortunately, I don't have a means of either writing musical notation on this computer or singing into it and making a sound-file, so the best I can do is type the names of the notes, with bold type for below middle C, red for above middle C, and ~ for 'hold the note'. Here we go, waltz time:
C C E / G G G / A~ F / G~~
Take off your crown and sit down, My Lord,
C C E / G F E / D~
Take off your crown and sit down,
G / C C E / G G G / A A F / G~
The way you behave is disgraceful to see,
G / C C E / G G E / D D E / F~
You've need of some schooling in excellency,
G / C C E / G G G / A B C /G~
For failure of courtesy's greater to blame
G / C C E / G F E / D D B / G~
The greater the title in front of the name,
G / C C E / D C B / C~~
So take off your crown and sit down.
... enjoy!
For the Dream,
