Sirius buries himself from the others, shuts out James and Peter's insistent teasing. When they are gone, he thinks himself safe - until a hand strokes him through the blankets.
Gentle, loving, considerate - everything his family denied him, because they thought he must be strong; this touch allows for softness, for a little boy's tears, and they cannot help but come.
Still the hand remains, stroking his back, soothing out the troubles of his past and his blood, and as long as that hand is there the world is all right, and he calms.
“All right, then?” Moony asks.
“All right.”
