Title: Perception
Characters: Luna
Challenge: 68 - pretend
Word Count: 100
Rating: G

Luna notices how those around her pretend there exists only one correct way to perceive the world. Every moment they must re-box themselves when their world is proven wrong; Luna prefers to avoid as much of the re-boxing process as possible, though she instigates it in others.

They pretend that she reads The Quibbler upside-down.

They pretend that The Prophet holds the one and only true news.

They pretend that nothing pulls the Hogwarts carriages.

They pretend that Luna knows nothing.

But she knows the beginning of wisdom is humility, and she has learned acceptance above pretending.

Title: Broadening Perspectives
Characters: Luna; mentions of Lupin and Snape
Challenge: 68. full moon
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG

When Professor Lupin came to be known a werewolf, Luna's theme became other, more terrifying aspects of the full moon:

“Moon rats plot to take over the wizarding world; usually they're like normal rats but they're brilliant at the full moon. . . ”

“Professor Snape turns people into vampires on a full moon, or if he doesn't like them into stone.”

“The Dementors get very hungry at the full moon, but if you get one's blood you can turn to a powerful Dark Wizard.”

“Over half the people supposed to be killed by werewolves were actually killed by Death Eaters, of course.”
