Test results

Call from the Dr. today - test results for my Glucose Tolerance Test are in, and they are "not normal". *sigh* I think the blood sugar monster has finally caught up with me. Into the Dr. office tomorrow - hopefully it's "minor" not normal, as opposed to "major" not normal.

Scott, if you see this, please drop me an email. drneely (at) earthink (dot) net. I've been trying to get a hold of you for a couple of days, but I think my email address for you is wrong.

Reactive hypoglycemia, impaired glucose tolerance, type 2 diabetes mellitus...

Those come to mind.

Considering I have diabetes AND hypoglycemia in my family, I'm not surprised. I was just hoping to dodge this bullet entirely.

We're all supposed to be much more aggressive about the diagnosis and treatment, because evidence suggests that the earlier and more aggressively we attack the problem, the fewer the sequelae. So, if you're being diagnosed with these things, the sooner you deal appropriately with them, the less likely you'll become blind, lose sexual function, have amputations, have heart attacks, have strokes, or end up on dialysis from renal failure from diabetes.

I hope for the best for you, but if they've identified the problem, then go gung ho on treatment, because you'll be better longer for it.

Good luck. Better to know, though, than to suffer the problems unknowingly. *hugs*
