It might be hard to be the leader of a girl gang, but Minseok thinks it's even harder to avoid the advances of the new transfer student; girl gang!AU
-originally written for chanyul and posted here

Minseok snuffs her cigarette out on the end of the bench, admiring her cracked OPI nailpolish for a moment before stuffing her hands in the pockets of her school uniform. Even though it's already November her skirt is still rolled up well above her knees and the only indication that she even knows how cold it is outside is the huge fluffy scarf draped around her neck. Despite the fact that she got a new uniform this year, her blazer is already patched in several places. The school logo is tearing off and she pats it, slipping the pack of cigarettes back into the breast pocket. It's a few minutes past the meeting time they'd decided on and her leg jiggles impatiently.

Settling back into the bench, Minseok purses her mouth. Her eyes wander back to her nails and she's trying to decide what color to go with next. She clucks her tongue when a girl takes the spot next to her, inclining her head slightly in acknowledgement. "So what's the situation?"

The lips of the girl beside her are tilted into a permanent smile and she hums, patting the bench. "You aren't going to like this..."

Minseok's eyes narrow. "Jongdae, just tell me."

The other smiles wryly. She'd prefer to drag out the news, but she isn't going to speak directly against their leader, so she holds her tongue, breaking the information down to easily digestible chunks. "Kyungsoo is in the hospital. Her wrist's broken."

Minseok hisses, pulling out a new cigarette and lighting it quickly, the short drags calming the irritation that's grating within her. It's bad enough to be down one member but it's even worse that Kyungsoo is one of their best, drilling into people with a lightning fast fist that they jokingly call the electric feel. It's not like all of the members are particularly good at defending themselves. What are they going to do if their best fighter isn't around?

Not to mention... Her hands clench into fists, her nails biting into her palms. "Who was it?" The words are soft but there's an underlying bite and there's anger in her stiff posture.

"Tao. You know, that dark eyed one from Chanyeol's gang." Jongdae pauses, looking towards Minseok and biting her lip. Her smile flatlines, and Minseok frowns. It's rare that Jongdae ever loses the playful lift to her lips, and the girl pushes a strand behind her ear, the flickering of her gaze betraying her unease. "What will we do?"

But Minseok isn't one to quake in the face of a challenge. She's gotten this far and she's not going to give up because of teenage punks in plaid skirts. The right side of Minseok's mouth draws up, her smile lopsided as she taps her finger against her lips.

"We make them pay, of course."

///

Despite all of Minseok's grand words, revenge isn't quite so easy to achieve. Kyungsoo is out of commission while her wrist heals, not to mention Kris and Yixing transferred back to China last week. Their already small group has only been getting smaller and it doesn't help that the student council president has been watching them carefully, waiting for one of them to break enough rules to get them landed with community service or a detention at least.

It's like Junmyeon doesn't even have a life, she huffs to herself as she turns up the volume of the next track, trying to drown out the conversations around her.

Minseok cups her hands around her headphones, pressing them to her ears and staring at the people on the bus as she tries to decide what to do. Jongin is a pretty good fist fighter, and Jongdae is downright dirty when it came to a scuffle; yanking hair and peeling off fake nails. But Sehun is still a bit lacking and Baekhyun has a tendency towards friendly fire when it comes to any sort of high stress situation.

It didn't matter that they were a ragtag group. But if things kept this way, they might lose the territory overlooking the main street near the school and it would take ages to find another convenience store that stocks snacks that both Baekhyun AND Jongdae like. Not to mention Kyungsoo's arm is stuck in a cast because of those girls.

She chews off the corner of her thumbnail, sighing in resignation.

"We need more members."

///

But even after she decides, she can't seem to find anyone that fits what she's looking for. And, as usual, the other girls are little to no help. Baekhyun suggests holding an audition for a musical as a cover, which most of them agreed to pretty readily, that is - until Kyungsoo points out that they're looking for fighters, not trying to form a glee club. Then, after that idea gets shot down, Jongdae decides the best thing to do is ambush girls in the halls and see who has the best reflexes, which results in her getting slapped several times and one girl elbowing her in the face in attempt to get away.

It's an utter fiasco and Junmyeon has been giving her glares in the hallways and passing her angry notes in math class reminding her that she's overdue for a locker inspection.

Minseok catches his eye as she's leaving the class, smiling sweetly as she rips the note to shreds.

She sighs, flipping her ponytail over her shoulder before heading down the hall.

Something has to change.

///

Their gang is called the Triangles because it started off with only three members: Minseok, Kyungsoo and Jongdae. The three of them have been friends since they were children and sometimes she wonders if they stayed together so long because they just couldn't imagine anything different. They grew up in three, they went to school as three, and when they were old enough to realize that boys kind of sucked and school was more about test scores than students - they fought as three too.

The Triangles started off with just three girls that were a bit wild and confused about what they wanted from life. And now that there were six, they were still just as confused and just as angry about it.

But, the six of them have grown together and Minseok is used to having them around now. The little side project she started in her first year has blossomed into a gang with at least ten blocks of territory to their name, and now that they're in their third year she can't help but feel sentimental about it.

They aren't a very organized gang. In fact it's more a group of girls hanging out than any kind of proper gang. But in place of rules they have traditions; one of which is a weekly slumber party where they watch old movies, do their nails, and take turns reading sex tips from Cosmo out loud.

And the second part of that tradition was always getting Chinese take out from the little shop a few streets down. Originally they chose the restaurant because Kris and Yixing worked there part time and the shop owner refused to give them time off unless the gang ordered a lot of food as compensation. But throughout their weekly meetings they spent months pouring over the same set of dishes, and now that Kris and Yixing have returned to their school in China, they kept ordering from the same place just because they've already learned the menu by heart.

When the doorbell rings, Jongdae groans and rolls over on the floor, the camisole of her matching pajama set rucking up underneath her arms. "Jajangmyun again?"

"You look indecent." Sehun leans over to poke her belly and Baekhyun covers Sehun's eyes, complaining that Jongdae is corrupting their youngest. This prompts Jongin to start listing the ways that she's corrupting their dear little Sehuna and everyone starts screaming and throwing pillows, hoping to derail the laundry list of TMI that's spewing from Jongin's mouth.

"They're all so noisy," Minseok mumbles, picking her way through the mess to the door. It seems that she's the only one that remembers that there's still a delivery girl waiting outside the door with eight orders of jajangmyun and a side of pickled radish.

She grabs the pile of bills they threw together, pausing in the doorway when she catches sight of Kyungsoo pounding on Minseok's wii controller with her cast. "Kyungsoo, stop it, you're going to break something. Do you want to have to replace your cast? Just play wii sports so you won't have to use the buttons." But before Minseok has time to hear Kyungsoo protest the doorbell rings again and she quickly makes her way to the hallway, the impatient ringing of the doorbell grating on her nerves.

"I'm coming!" She yells as she rolls her eyes, kicking open the door.

The delivery girl jumps back, narrowly avoiding the swing of the door with a squeak. The small ponytail on top of her head bobs and she grins, holding up two plastic bags. "Hey. Can I come in?"

Minseok's brow furrows slightly. "Why do you want to come in?" She clenches her hands around the handful of bills, trying to keep them from flying away.

The girl tilts her head, her caramel popcorn colored hair flopping slightly. "Kris said you have a gang? I want in." She starts towards the door and Minseok blocks the way, frowning.

"No. Who are you, even?" She's not going to let a stranger into her house, no matter how cold she's feeling in her bear print pajamas and she rubs her legs, trying to get some warmth back into her limbs. The small action sends money flying from her hands and she yelps, lunging forward to grab it.

Which is just the distraction that Luhan needs to slip past the front door, turning to get the overloaded bags of food through and calling out, "Thanks, you won't regret it!" as she stumbles through the shoes piled in the entryway. She pauses, looking back. "And it's Luhan!"

Luhan finds the living room easily from all the shouting and the four wrestling on the floor look up at the newcomer curiously, glancing between the food and the girl in front of them.

"Hi?" Jongdae stares up at her from her sprawled position on the floor and Baekhyun is leaning over her, caught in the act of blowing a raspberry on the other's stomach.

Jongin slumps over Sehun's shoulders, an arm tightening around Sehun's shoulders protectively. "And why are you here? Did Min-unnie let you in?"

"Mhmm!" Luhan nods, grinning cheerfully and swinging the food towards them. "I'm Luhan and I'm going to join your gang."

"You can fight?" Kyungsoo peers over, looking over Luhan's lithe figure disdainfully. "Because it doesn't look like you can."

But then four tangled on the floor all start talking, drowning out Kyungsoo's words.

"A new girl!"

"But we don't even know her!"

"Do you think she always wears her hair like tha-"

"Baekhyun, shhh, she's right there."

Then they fall into silence, staring at her. Jongin sighs, nestling her head into Sehun's shoulder. "I guess we should do introductions?" She ruffles Sehun's hair, smiling. "This is Sehun, but everyone calls her Sehuna because," Jongin pinches her cheek,"isn't she just so cute?"

Sehun's face deadpans and Luhan stares. Sehun's limbs are long and pale and she looks like a model with her bored face and pinched expression. She's beautiful but maybe not what Luhan would consider cute. Still, she nods good-naturedly. "I guess so-"

"I'm not cute!" Sehun throws Jongin's arm from her shoulder, huffing, and the long strands of blond hair sit messily on her head from Jongin's stroking.

"You so are. Se-hu-na." Jongin pokes her side, grinning, and the two girls sitting next to them jump in once they see an opportunity to make fun of someone.

"Sehuna," coos Baekhyun She pokes at Sehun's legs while Jongdae goes to the other side of her, tugging at her pajama top.

"You're so cute, Sehuna."

"Aw, she's blushing."

"Shut up!" Sehun bristles, lashing out at them. She gets more frustrated every time they dodge her jabs and Jongin just watches, amused.

Jongin leans forward, whispering. "What was that, Sehuna?"

Sehun shrieks and the four of them break into another squabble. They completely forget about Luhan and in the end Kyungsoo is the only one that even bothers to introduce herself. Luhan settles into the chaos of the living room a bit too well, leaving the food on the table and sinking down next to Kyungsoo to play Super Smash Brothers. The way plaster flakes off of Kyungsoo's cast every time she pounds B-up doesn't seem to bother Luhan at all and she doesn't even flinch when Kyungsoo mauls her character with Ganandorf, continuing to grin every time the TV yells "K.O."!

///

It's at lunchtime the next day that Minseok sees Luhan again.

Smiling, Luhan leans over Minseok's desk, tugging on her long ponytail. Luhan's hair is sitting in a small ponytail on the top of her head and her tie is undone. If Minseok looks a little more closely she can see a bit of black lace at the edge of her blouse. Her eyes snap up to Luhan's face and she frowns slightly, pulling her headphones off.

"What." She blinks up at the other girl, brushing her bangs out of her eyes. "Do you need something?"

Luhan grins, wrapping Minseok's hair around her finger. "Let me join your gang." It's more of an order than a request, and Minseok raises her eyebrow.

"No." She pulls her hair free, wincing slightly at the tug. "I thought I already told you no yesterday." She puts her headphones back on, which usually is a social cue for end of discussion, but it seems that Luhan never got that memo. Instead of leaving, like any normal person would, she stays.

At first she pouts, staring down at her empty hands, but then a smile grows on her face as a thought occurs to her. She leans over the desk, smirking when the other pulls back. "Hey, Minseok, why don't we have a bet then?"

Minseok loves bets. She thrives on bets. She pulls her headphones off again, biting her lip. "Go on, Luhan. I'm listening."

Luhan knows she's got Minseok caught and the smile on her face widens. "If you say my name anytime this week, then I get to join the gang."

"Once?" Minseok raises an eyebrow, tapping her fingernails on the desk in front of her. "I said it right now, didn't I? Are you going to be sneaky and say that that counts?" She eyes the other carefully, trying to judge what the other's intentions are. Why does she want to join the gang so badly, anyway?

Luhan laughs, tilting her head, "Oh what little faith you have in me. Fine, you need to say my name two more times this week. Are you happy now?"

Two times. She can avoid saying it twice. But before she agrees she wants to know what she'll get out of it. "And if I don't say it?"

"If you don't, then I'll pay for the gang's Chinese take-out orders for a month." She leans back from the desk, looking satisfied and Minseok laughs.

"Seriously? Haven't you seen how much Sehun and Jongin can eat?" The two youngest could demolish three orders of Jajangmyun and a side of Japchae between them. And that's only after dinner. Minseok smiles, mischievous. "Are you sure you want to risk something like that?" She flips her hair over her shoulder. "I might be small but I can eat a lot too, you know."

Luhan smiles, popping out her hip and revealing a sliver of skin between her skirt and blazer. "Let's just say I'm very confident in my abilities as well."

Minseok eyes the other girl incredulously. She has to admit that Luhan is far more gutsy than she'd realized earlier. She has an air of assurance about her even Minseok can't shake, and that alone makes her interesting. ...Maybe it wouldn't be so bad having someone like her in the gang. They could use someone else that doesn't panic at the sight of blood (she rolls her eyes at Sehun). But then again... free food is also pretty tempting. She smirks, pulling her headphones back down.

"Fine, you're on."

And this time Luhan gets the unspoken cue and leaves, walking with the ease of someone who knows they're going to get what they want fairly soon.

///

The first time Minseok almost slips up is later that afternoon in gym class. She and Jongdae are sitting on the bleachers, watching the rest of the class playing basketball. Minseok is waiting for her turn to be subbed into the game and Jongdae is sitting out as a penalty for tripping one of their classmates ("I just stuck my foot out! It's not like I knew she was going to run in that direction!").

"Lu-" She starts, before she realizes what she almost said, turning to look at the girl on the court. Their eyes catch for a moment and Luhan grins, as if she knows what just happened. Minseok frowns.

"Do you remember that delivery girl from the other day?"

Jongdae looks confused, but answers all the same. "Yeah, of course. Luhan?"

"Yeah, that girl." Minseok licks her lips. "We have a bet going... if I say her name she gets to join the gang, and if I don't we get free food from the restaurant for a month."

Understanding dawns and Jongdae laughs, tossing her head. "Does she know that we've been holding back when we order from there?" She tilts her head, her seemingly innocent smile taking on a teasing gleam. "I've always wanted to order the whole menu before... maybe this will be the day."

Jongdae's enthusiasm is catching and Minseok finds herself smiling in return.

"Maybe."

She looks back to the court and Luhan waves at her, her ponytail bobbing.

///

But once she's almost slipped up once, it becomes less likely for her to make the same mistake. She repeats Luhan's name again and again in her mind until the sounds are second nature to her and she reminds herself to be careful in the future.

The next day, Luhan looks towards Minseok's desk as soon as she comes into the classroom and their eyes catch. Immediately, Minseok looks away, opening up her Korean lit. book and pretending to study while Luhan bounces over to her, leaning over her desk and smelling like flowers.

"Good morning, Minseok." She waits expectantly, peering up at Minseok with an eager smile.

Minseok barely glances up from the book, looking at the hem of Luhan's skirt from the corner of her eyes. "Good morning." The other students have just begun filing into the classroom and the quiet bustle of chairs and papers does nothing to drown out the heavy sound of Luhan's disappointed sigh.

"Aren't you going to say my name?" The girl pouts, flopping over the desk dejectedly.

Luhan looks so pathetic that Minsoek has to bite back a smile, raising her textbook to hide her face.

"Nope."

And Luhan groans, stealing a pen from Minseok's pencil box and doodling frowny faces on the corner of her notebook.

///

It's on the third day that Luhan slows her bike, hopping off to walk next to Minseok, the pedals clicking as they go around. Even though it's spring, the weather is warm enough for them to ditch their blazers, Minseok's shirt hanging untucked from her pleated navy skirt. Luhan walks up behind her, flipping up her skirt and receiving a sharp punch to the gut in return.

"Do you remember my name?" She rubs a hand over her stomach, wondering if a glimpse of Minseok's black panties was really worth it. (Yes, it was.)

Minseok smiles angrily, cocking her head to the side and sending her pigtails swinging. "Lu-something?" She pretends to think really hard. "Lu-pervert?" She reaches over and pinches Luhan's arm, continuing to smile.

Luhan yelps in pain, leaning over her handlebars, and Minseok steals the elastic from Luhan's hair, running forward a few steps before turning to wait for her to catch up.

///

Despite all of Minseok's discouragement, Luhan seems to have gotten used to touching and prodding her and Minseok gives up trying to dissuade the other at all. When they're heading to the cafeteria, Luhan swings her arm around Minseok's shoulder, squeezing lightly and Minseok lets her.

"Hey, Min, what's the name of the girl that sits in the room next to you? You know that cute transfer student?" She bumps her head against the other, grinning expectantly and Minseok can't wait to crush that hopeful smile.

Minseok wrinkles her nose, pretending to think long and hard. "Cute transfer student... do we have one? The only one I've seen around is you."

Luhan pulls away, hissing playfully and hitting Minseok's shoulder with a laugh. "What an ice queen." She turns to get in line for lunch, still shaking her head and laughing.

And Minseok waits for her, smiling as she pushes the bangs from her face.

///

It's strange how such little things could make her conscious of Luhan. She starts to expect Luhan's presence around her, nettling her to say her name again and again, and it's not until it's quiet that she realizes how weird it is.

She looks up from her lunch, frowning. "Kyungsoo, where's... you know?" She stumbles over not using the name and her frown deepens as she tries to decide what to say. "Where's she-whose-name I cannot say?" She hasn't seen Luhan at all today and it's somewhat unnerving, the space around her feeling a little be less chaotic than usual. "Did something happen to her?" Maybe she's sick?

Her friend turns to her, eyes wide and incredulous as the hint of a smile tugs at her lips. "You mean Luhan?" She hums, leaning on the heel of her hand. "Was she not in homeroom? She looked fine when I saw her in science."

Jongdae kicks at Minseok's feet, laughing as she leans over the table. "Ah, look at you getting all worried about your shadow already!" The cooing sounds she's making are downright obnoxious and Minseok kicks her back.

Was she worried?

...Maybe a little.

She flushes, looking away from her two friends, and getting to her feet. "I think I have to go to the bathroom," she says, unable to meet their prying gazes. "So I'll just-" She gestures to the side before grabbing her bag and rushing off.

"How much do you want to bet she's going to go looking for Luhan."

Kyungsoo laughs, jabbing Jongdae with the handle of her spoon. "And that's one bet I won't be taking."

///

It's surprisingly easy to find Luhan. All she has to do is follow the sound of Junmyeon's voice echoing down the corridors and she rolls her eyes as she listens to him nag.

"You know that this hair color is against the school rules, right? As a transfer student you should be setting an example for the other students. Hasn't it ever occurred to you that you're representing your entire school-" He pauses, leaning in slightly. "No, your entire country during the time that you're studying here?"

It's not clear whether his words are actually having any effect on Luhan; the same blank expression stays on her face throughout the entire lecture.

"Are you even listening to me?" Junmyeon frowns, adjusting his tie.

"Huh? I couldn't understand what you just said, can you say it again?" Luhan pouts, tossing her head. "Korean is so difficult. I can't understand when you speak that quickly."

But if Luhan was expecting her words to discourage him, they only end up doing the exact opposite.

Junmyeon eyes fill with sympathy. "Oh! Of course, I'm so sorry. Shall I explain again? I'll speak slower this time to make sure you understand." He drags out each of the words slowly and the look of despair on Luhan's face as she realizes that her plan backfired makes Minseok giggle, smothering the sound too late.

The two turn towards the noise and Minseok swallows her laughter. "Luhan," she calls out, motioning for Luhan to come. "Come here."

The girl looks over, her face gleaming at the sight of Minseok and she skips over to the other's side, her arm immediately finding its place around Minseok's shoulders.

Junmyeon's eyebrows furrow anxiously. "Minseok, we're not done talking. I'm in the middle of trying to explain to Luhan that the rules which she previously held herself to have changed and that-"

"If it's a problem then I think the headteacher should be the one to talk to her about it, don't you?" Minseok breaks in, smiling sweetly. "After all, Ms. Kim told me she needed to see her right away. Which do you think is more important right now; a lecture on the rules, or finding out why the head of Chinese transfer students needs to talk to her?"

Junmyeon deflates, smiling slightly. "You're right." But then he eyes Minseok's messy appearance; the earrings, the nail polish, the short skirt and the streaks of brown in her hair. "But if we're going to be talking about the rules, I think that maybe you also could benefit from a refresher course." He grins, his voice flattening out as he begins to recite the rules he knows by heart. "Skirts can only be one inch above the knee, and blazers need to be worn with at least one button fastened. The angle of the collar should be at a degree of-"

"Got to go, Junmyeon! Ms. Kim is waiting!" She grabs Luhan, towing the other away before they get a recitation of the entire student handbook.

And when they turn the corner she's expecting some thanks, or at the very some praise at getting them away, but all Luhan says is, "You said my name! You said my name!!"

///

One down and one more to go.

Minseok can't say that she really minds the fact that she slipped. The only annoying thing is the way that Luhan won't let it die, teasing her about it for a whole day and then telling the story to all the other girls in the gang.

Baekhyun laughed, simply saying that Minseok had a knight in shining armor complex and Jongdae added that she felt sorry for Junmyeon for getting a crush on someone like Minseok. (She helpfully adds later you know, someone who's so tsundere and Minseok rolls her eyes, pointing out that the fact that she's gay should be a bigger deterrent than anything about her personality.)

The youngest two in the gang are the ones that make the biggest fuss over it, trying to give Minseok pep talks to keep her from slipping again and making them lose out on the chance to try the whole menu and Minseok groans, tuning them out. But then she turns and catches Luhan staring at her with a bright smile and she doesn't regret it at all.

///

On Thursday, the sport of the day is soccer and Minseok gets into her gym uniform eagerly, switching her lacy polka dot bra for a sports bra and tying up her hair into a high ponytail. She rolls up her socks burning with excitement. Soccer has always been a favorite pastime of hers and there's a bounce in her step as she makes her way onto the field.

"You look happy today." Jongdae comments as she braids her hair, bobby pins held between her teeth.

Minseok laughs, stealing a bobby pin and using it to pin her bangs back. "Is it that obvious?"

"As clear as Junmyeon's unrequited feelings for you. " She giggles, pulling Minseok's ponytail tighter and then patting her back. "Have fun."

Minseok has always been competitive and sports just bring it out more. She gets the same rush kicking around the ball as she does from knocking people into the pavement and her eyes gleam as she tracks the ball's movements, biding her time until she can sneak the ball away. But every time she's about to take it Luhan is there, blocking her with an arm or a leg and forcing her to pull back with a dissatisfied hiss.

It's been a long time since there was anyone in the school that has either the talent or the guts to stand up to Minseok on the soccer field and she finds the challenge thrilling, discreetly shoving her elbow into Luhan's ribs as she manages to steal the ball away at last.

But even if she has the upper hand now, Luhan won't let it end with that. Growling, she chases Minseok down, a gleam of excitement in her eyes as the ponytail on her head wobbles back and forth.

///

The locker checks that Junmyeon has been threatening Minseok with finally happen that later afternoon, and she groans when they find the pack of cigarettes stashed in the corner. ( But thankfully they didn't see the brass knuckles she had hidden in her school bag for emergencies. ) Immediately they're taken away from her and Junmyeon escorts her to detention, biting back a shy grin.

"You shouldn't smoke. You're going to get lung cancer," he says, sneaking a worried glance at her as he unlocks the classroom.

Minseok rolls her eyes. Yes, mom."

Detention ends up being helping Junmyeon staple handouts while listening to golf jokes, and by the end of the two hours she's sick of awkward attempts at flirting in the form of accidental hand touches. It's been two hours of forcing herself to be civil and she honestly just wants to get home.

Yet when she's at her locker there's a voice behind her. "Soccer fan?" Luhan's voice sounds thick, but Minseok barely even spares her a glance.

She fiddles with her lock, trying to get the combination to work. "Yeah I used to play when I was little-"

And then Luhan's hands are on her waist, flipping her around and shoving her into the lockers. Minseok isn't sure how she feels about being manhandled like this and she has half a mind to push the other off, but she's curious about where this will lead so she waits, leaning back into the door.

"Why are you so-" Luhan's brow furrows slightly, as if she just encountered something so perplexing she can't wrap her head around it.

But maybe she has, because that's how Minseok is starting to feel about the strangely upbeat transfer student that won't even give her time alone to think about why she shouldn't let Luhan be part of their gang. The air is thick and the hallway is heavy with the scent of sweat and teenage hopes and all Minseok can think of to say is "So what?" She laughs, her hands instinctively finding Luhan's collar, tugging at the fabric.

Luhan's gaze flicks down to Minseok's lips and she groans. "So... you."

And before Minseok can tease the other girl for the lame pick up line, Luhan's lips are on hers, slowly working them apart as she pushes her blouse up her body. Luhan's fingers are tracing up the line of her torso and Minseok's strawberry lip gloss is sticky between their lips.

Minseok's hands find the hem of Luhan's skirt, gripping onto the elastic and just dipping her fingers past, dragging her nails along the edge of her panties and feeling the other shiver under her light touches.

"Say it." Luhan's lips are at Minseok's ear and she pushes Minseok bra up until she can trace the swell of her breast. She nudges her thigh between Minseok's, pushing her into the lockers with each insistent roll of her hips."Say my name, Minseok."

Minsoek gasps, the thigh between her legs wedging upward and her breath is shortening into ragged puffs, each one leaving her lips and lingering in the air. "Lu... Lu..."

Luhan's eyes are wild and filled with the sight of Minseok's chest rising and falling, licking her lips as she catches Minseok's eyes with a smile. It's wide and it's cheerful and hopeful and-

Maybe Minseok should just say it.

Her head dips forward against Luhan's ear, her lips brushing over the ridge of the other's ear, and finally, finally whispering, "L.... loser."

Or not.

She pushes Luhan off of her, readjusting her uniform and sticking out her tongue, chuckling. "Isn't that your name?"

Luhan rolls her eyes, pinching Minseok cheeks as she lets out a frustrated groan. "You're lucky you're cute."

///

When Minseok is stuffing things from her locker into her backpack, her cellphone beeps. When she scrolls through her history she finds three unread texts from Jongin and she looks through, sighing.

To: Min-Unnie

fight. bridge. bring a sledgehammer and a coke.

To: Min-Unnie

ok maybe not the sledgehammer I don't want u to go to jail

To Min-Unnie

yes to the coke tho Sehuna won't shut up about how thirsty she is

She groans, her muscles aching from the earlier soccer game and she catches Luhan standing off to the side, holding her phone up with a slight smile. "You coming?"

///

The walk down to the river doesn't take much time, but the fight is already in progress by the time they arrive. It's damp underneath the bridge, the concrete slimy with mildew, and yet no one seems to mind; all of them wresting and rolling about on the wet surfaces. Sehun is sitting on Tao's back, pulling at her hair, and Jongin is right next to her, stealing her sneakers and chucking them further down the banks. Baekhyun is aiming at people's shins, letting out little battle shrieks as she kicks out and Jongdae has her teeth sunk into some girl's shoulder. It's not a sight that should be pretty to anyone, and yet Minseok can't help but smile, her blood already boiling with the excitement of the fight.

She bows towards the scuffle, her smile eager. "After you." She catches Luhan's questioning expression and she laughs, exhilarated. "Don't you want to join in?"

Luhan's eyes light up and she giggles, pushing past Minseok into the fray.

And it was every bit as thrilling as Minseok thought it would be. The swish of fists passing her face and the thud of her heart beating is enough to make her intoxicated and she's giddy by the time she meets her first opponent. Every nerve within her is begging her to take her down and she can't ignore the call of the pounding need, smiling as her fist reaches out to catch the other girl in the ribs.

"Minseok," Chanyeol laughs dismissively, grabbing her arm and twisting it behind her back. "When will you learn not to mess with the pros?" Chanyeol is one of the few members of the area that had any sort of formal training and she never lets them forget it, bragging to all of them about the number of push-ups she can do and how many kilometers she can run.

Minseok smirks, clawing Chanyeol's shoulder and kneeing the other in the stomach, her smile widening when Chanyeol releases her with a groan of a pain. "I don't know, I'll think about that when I meet some." There are times that spirit is more important than a disciplined body, and this is one of them. Minseok fights against Chanyeol nail and teeth, polish flaking from her nails when her fist meets Chanyeol's mouth.

Chanyeol spits out blood and looks at Minseok with amusement. Any setbacks just seem to spur her on and she redoubles her efforts, the both of them trading blows as they circle around each other. Chanyeol might have the advantage of height but Minseok is faster. Chanyeol pushes forward and Minseok pushes back, and the push and pull of their efforts would be graceful if not for the pure bloodlust reflected in their desperate movements.

"Kyungsoo's in the hospital because of that dumb kung fu artist of yours." She glares, pushing the other away. But in a moment Chanyeol is back on her, their foreheads pressed together, her lips curled up mockingly.

"Why don't you join her?" She grabs onto Minseok's wrists, twisting both of them behind her back, and Minseok immediately fights back. But this time Chanyeol doesn't budge. Minseok's arms are thoroughly bound behind her and all she can do is hiss in frustration, trying to kick behind her in an attempt to free herself.

And it's when she's caught like this, irritation flooding her senses, making her vision blur that there's a shout from Baekhyun and the two of them turn to look.

It takes her a moment to realize the cause, but then she sees Luhan, locking in a struggle with Tao. The two of them are tugging at each other, both trying to force the other back. Luhan's pushing forward and it seems like like Luhan is starting to get the upper hand, forcing Tao back towards the water's edge. But just as Luhan begins her attack, everything comes to a halt. It's like everything is dialed back to slow motion, a girl moving up behind Luhan and swinging her backpack, the straps trailing behind it.

"Watch out!"

It's too late. The girl catches the back of Luhan's head with her bag and the smaller girl crumples immediately. Her body folds up joint by joint until she's curled up on the ground, clutching her stomach and the little ponytail on her head bobbing up and down with every kick to her stomach.

And Minseok feels guilty. Why is Luhan even here? She shouldn't have been mixed up in gang stuff. A week of Luhan tagging around and Minseok had deluded herself into thinking that she was the missing piece they needed in the gang. She hadn't even seen Luhan fight before and yet she had started to believe that maybe she could join. How stupid. Minseok shouldn't have told Luhan to come. She wasn't a fighter.

And now Luhan is the one that has to pay for Minseok's poor judgement, curling into a ball as the kicks rain down on her.

"Luhan!" Minseok screams, digging her nails into the arms of her captor and doing her best to pull free, yanking out a hair extension in the process. The air is filled with shouts and screaming and the dull thud of shoes against flesh, and the noises reverberate through the space, bouncing back and forth against the concrete.

But Minseok can still hear Luhan's laughter clearly. "It's about time."

She halts in the act of twisting the Chanyeol's arm, momentarily distracted by the sudden laughter.

"What?" She watches, dumbstruck. as Luhan's feet lash out, catching several girls in the ankles as she easily springs back up on her feet, crouching down to give her a more solid position. She smiles, looking a bit crazy as her fist takes someone in the jaw and the other girl folds like a Jacob's ladder, each limb collapsing in as she falls to the ground.

The other girls all take a step back, eyeing Luhan warily. Unlike the other girls, Luhan is the wildcard. They don't know how to predict her actions and they all pull back, looking between themselves as they try to decide if it's too early to retreat.

Then Luhan growls, lunging towards them, the ponytail on her head swaying and the other girl's eyes go wide with the same conclusion: this girl is fucking mental.

Chanyeol turns to Minseok, trying to look unimpressed as she pulls her blazer around herself, one of the sleeves holding on by only threads. "Well. I suppose you can have the riverbanks. For now." She runs a hand through her hair, trying to smooth out the tangles and frowns when it comes back bloody. She wipes the hand on her skirt, straightening it the best she can and backing away slowly. "We're not. Giving up though."

She points at them, glaring as she backs away. She gestures for the other members to follow her and they do, banding together as they pull back.

"Wait," Minseok points to Tao, glaring. "We still have this problem to deal with."

Chanyeol looks back towards Tao in surprise, as if she was noticing the other member for the first time and she reaches out to tug on her ear. "Don't worry. We'll teach her a lesson. Truthfully, that scuffle with Kyungsoo was never part of the plan. We'll be punishing her accordingly."

Each of the last words is punctuated with a glare, making it obvious that she's angry.

And Minseok would have complained more if not for the look of utter fear that was in Tao's eyes. Bowing, they leave, Tao's ear still caught in a vice grip between the leader's fingers.

Once she's gone Luhan is at Minseok's side, slinging an arm around her neck and grinning with satisfaction. "You said my name."

As much as Minseok wants to get angry, to punch Luhan for faking it and pull on that ridiculous ponytail bobbing on her head, she's too relieved to say anything but, "Yes, I did," a weak smile on her face.

Luhan's head leans against hers and their hair is sticky with sweat and dirt. It's a little bit too warm to be comforting but Minseok closes her eyes, concentrating on way her rapid heartbeat begins to slow.

"So am I in the gang now?"

Minseok nearly snorts, wondering how Luhan can be worried about that at all. Isn't it obvious by now that Minseok has already given in? She shakes her head, quiet laughter filling the space between them.

"Yes."

Somewhere in the distance Baekhyun is whistling obnoxiously but Minseok barely even hears, too distracted by the warmth of Luhan's arms curling around her to pay attention to her obnoxious friends.

"How are you and Yixing?" The connection to China is surprisingly good and Minseok grins, adjusting the angle of her laptop screen so she can see Kris more clearly.

Kris shrugs, "It's weird to be back in China. There are some things I missed about China that I'm glad to see again and there are other things that I miss about Korea now." She smiles, rocking back and forth in her seat. "But how's the gang?"

Minseok clucks her tongue, running a hand through her hair. "Do you perhaps know someone called Luhan? She mentioned she knew you so I thought maybe..."

Kris thinks for a moment, "Luhan.... oh, you mean Hannie? Yeah, she's a legend over here." Kris leans in to the camera, cupping her hand around the camera as if she's telling a secret. "I heard she's killed men before."

Yixing comes into the room, leaning on Kris' head and eyeing the camera curiously. "So you were talking to Minseok all this time?" She smiles, waving to Minseok. "Hello, unnie! Are you eating well?" Then she remembers what she wanted to say about Luhan, adding. "And... didn't she kill them with a bobby pin?"

The peaceful look on her face is in contrast with her words and Minseok stares, a little bit uncomfortable. She looks down at the girl lying beside her, nudging her with her knee. "Is that true?"

Luhan sits up and wraps her arms around Minseok, resting her head on her shoulder and nuzzling into her neck. "Maybe half-true?"

"And which is the true part? That you killed someone or that you maimed someone with a bobby pin?"

"Shh," Luhan shuts the laptop on Kris and Yixing's startled faces, arms tightening around the tiny waist in front of her. "Isn't it more fun to have some secrets in a relationship?"

She continues kissing down Minseok's neck, her hands tugging at the other's skirt and Minseok just rolls her eyes, hiding a smile. "I'll remember to use that line the next time you ask me anything."

And Luhan pouts, sliding her hands underneath Minseok's sweater. "Fine, I'll tell you." Then she smiles, "Should we make a bet?"

Minseok snorts, kissing Luhan quickly. A playful smile is on her face and she flips a pigtail over her shoulder. "Sure, why not?"
