Damnit it's finally happened. My laptop hard drive has had enough and crashed. Luckily our new flat mate Romek can fix the actual laptop but it looks like my hard drive is going to have to be wiped. So 'Kaputt' goes most of my writing and music just as I was about to transfer it to an external hard drive

Don't even *think* about wiping it. I used to do datarecovery a while back. I'll probably be able to get some stuff back. Don't touch it or format it or anything, bring the drive to me.

It was all corrupted. Romek tried to save it but it was well and truly buggered. It's ok tho I can re-write and re-download everything I had on it. I do need a windows XP disk though. Don't suppose you have one do you?

Unfortunately you need to use the same Windows installation CD you got with the laptop upon purchase. The licensing thing with XP is pretty difficult these days :\ I can't really help there

Don't wipe the drive! Stuff can be saved - do not touch, change, format or anything with it yet. Get someone who can do data-recovery to have a look at it.
